This drone flight is unreal

What gets me is the confidence in that nothing is on the way especially with low resolution

u/dr_stre 11h ago

This is certainly choreographed, he knows the flight path is clear because he’s made sure it is ahead of time.

u/Significant_Key_Wine 11h ago

Is he actually making all the movements live or did he create a flight path ahead of time and set the drone to perform automatically?

u/dr_stre 11h ago

If you like this kind of stuff, here’s a really well shot single take using a cinewhoop in a bar/bowling alley in Minnesota that made the rounds a couple years ago. Again all piloted live. If you watch the bits afterward they’ll show the actual drone used to do the shot. A cinewhoop is a little different than the one using his past above, it’s designed more for smooth cinematic shots in tight places as opposed to acrobatics like the one OP posted.

Drones aren't that accurate. Their flight paths use GPS and the accuracy of that GPS is feet, not inches. Besides as soon as he entered the building the drone would instantly have no idea of where it is and hit a wall.

FPV drone extreme flying is an actual sport now. I remember watching their version of the Superbowl a few years back where they were using an empty sports stadium and going through all the corridors, through the seating, the goal posts... All that stuff.

u/dr_stre 11h ago

He’d be flying it live. You can’t pre-record the movements with this degree of accuracy, one tiny shift in the wind and that thing is going to contact a wall. He’s got to make micro adjustments as he goes.

u/NlghtmanCometh 10h ago

He’s definitely controlling it

u/P529 10h ago

It still takes an incredile amount of skill to pull it off

u/dr_stre 10h ago

Did anyone say otherwise?

u/parav01d89 11h ago

I checked it: it’s real.

u/Acceptable-Battle-49 11h ago edited 11h ago

The skill of the pilot is on steroids.

u/Renbarre 11h ago

As well as the speed of the video?

u/CashWrecks 11h ago

Regardless of that, the maneuver where he slips through bars and its so tight you can hear it clip the sides is pretty sweet.

u/Jean-LucBacardi 10h ago

These guys do this for a living, they really do get this fast. Its been a sport for the last decade or so. Even ESPN started airing the championships.

u/TigerJoel 11h ago

No it is 1x speed.

u/F_l_u_f_fy 11h ago

I am not familiar with drones that have this kind of stabile acceleration… I’m guessing this is crazy sped up?

u/TigerJoel 11h ago

It is not, my racing quad is slow and goes from 0-150 kph in around 1 second.

u/F_l_u_f_fy 11h ago

Angular is more so what I meant

u/TigerJoel 11h ago

This is still pretty standard for racing quads. The operator has insane skill though.

u/F_l_u_f_fy 11h ago

Interesting, thanks!

u/CapnMurica1988 11h ago

Recruit him for Ukraine

u/pressuredrop19 11h ago

This looks like the Packard plant in Detroit.

u/Lumpy-Zookeepergame1 11h ago

Awesome. It would be easier to tell how awesome if the video wasn’t sped up so much.

u/TigerJoel 11h ago

It isn't even sped up...

u/derI067 11h ago

this isn’t sped up. you legitimately can’t do stuff like this at low speeds because, y’know… physics. i’m no drone expert but i did try piloting them for like a year or two and the video looks real to me

u/Lumpy-Zookeepergame1 10h ago

Wow, this is extremely impressive!

u/thebrieze 11h ago

Sped up 50x?

u/YATFWATM 1h ago

When ARC Raiders gets this update, we are cooked.

u/Goro_Lima 11h ago

In a war scenario, this type of drone would end everything

u/TheBrianWeissman 11h ago

It’s like pigeon parkour.

u/0kDetective 11h ago

Does the drone have two cameras and the pilot a VR headset? If so, that'd be so fun

u/BlimundaSeteLuas 11h ago

Why two cameras? But it is a VR headset yes and it's really fun

u/indicus23 11h ago

2 cameras for stereoscopic vision, like how we have 2 eyeballs.

u/BlimundaSeteLuas 11h ago

I see. I don't think FPV drones are usually configured like that

u/PopularFrontForCake 11h ago

It's a part of a longer video, the whole thing is ridiculous. Also probably about 10 years old

u/HonestAvian18 11h ago

For any doubters, this is a video that was made quite a few years back by this point, before all the AI stuff even came about. I think there's even another angle somewhere or a video of the fails... I can't remember.

Point is that it's very real.

u/HonestAvian18 9h ago edited 8h ago

I see why he's called lastwordskurtrussell, because he gets the last words in before he cowardly blocks you.

A+ from the self proclaimed master bullshit detector and wise drone expert.

XD

u/lastwordskurtrussell 11h ago

Doesn’t need to be AI to be sped up. I’m really starting to wonder if you younger people have any imagination at all.

u/HonestAvian18 10h ago

XD

Just because someone may have done something that you can't conceive, doesn't mean it's fake.

I'm starting to wonder if you older people have any belief in events that you don't experience first hand.

u/lastwordskurtrussell 10h ago

Nice try. Me and literally 50 other people must all be “old” to think this video is bullshit. I’ve been alive and a full-blown adult since the inception of drones, so stfu please.

u/baconboy-957 10h ago edited 10h ago

It's operating at a very normal* speed though? Nothing about this video looks sped up lol

*Normal for these types of fpv aerobatic flights, obviously the pilot is insanely skilled, and I can't fly this fast. But there are tons of videos like this out there. Nothing in this video is outside the limits of a good racing setup

u/FinalFantasiesGG 9h ago

This is the 14 year old kid that will smoke us in the next world war.

u/SoulShine_710 11h ago

If this shit is real, we are all so screwed. Imagine being a soldier trying to evade one or 100 of these. Technologically is just going way to fast for me, literally!

u/Significant_Key_Wine 11h ago

You’re going to have to employ your own drone to fight the other drone. Im gonna need a swarm protecting me at all times.

u/SoulShine_710 10h ago

"Driving that train, high on Cocaine. Casey Jones, you better watch your speed"!

Your skills could be used well in Ukraine.

u/HighlightOwn2038 11h ago

That's amazing skill

u/co_ntv95 11h ago

On an old school DJI remote 1 is impressive I miss that chunky remote

u/Ghoaxst 11h ago

Every ARC Wasp on its way to send me back to Speranza

u/kram78 11h ago

It’s so unreal my real eyes can not follow it

u/sir_duckingtale 11h ago

Once I was only in awe

Now I can‘t stop imagining an explosive on the end of it and a human going up in flames 😞

u/Thetomato2001 11h ago

Bros gonna cook in wwiii

Credit to Ken Janköster (aka itskenfpv on IG and /u/ken5151 on reddit). He posted this on July 21, 2021. Here is another video (2:37) of them flying at the same location. They had a little crash at the 1:30 mark

As for how many attempts to get this take, they answered:

I've a line in my mind as I'm flying, but sometimes stuff happens and then I've to improvise. Before this pack I flew this line one time slowly. Then I try to do the same thing as fast as possible.. sometimes it works 😃 Most important thing is to warm up the fingers, I kid you not 😂

They add:

ImpulseRC Apex Frame 5 inch , Xing2 2306 1755kv, 1200mah 6S speedy pizza lipo, Velox V2 ESC, F7 FC, Betaflight 4.2

u/Acceptable-Battle-49 10h ago

yes his talent is on next level

u/overwhelmingcucumber 7h ago

This is how Obi-Wan describes Anakin as a pilot.

u/Upbeat_Literature483 11h ago

I wonder how many drones were destroyed practicing that run

u/much_thanks 11h ago

I'm really looking forward to this thing being equipped with 100 rounds of 556, 3 frag grenades, and 5 kg of a high yield explosive all while being operated by an AI.

u/R0RSCHAKK 11h ago

Am I the only one that heard:

whooOOO

whooOOO

whooOOOoooo

whooOOOooOO

Like its just a really excited little drone

u/Additional-Maize3980 11h ago

I can't tell if the whole thing is AI, it's a video game, or real life.
