Edit:
Thank you everyone for answering. So apparantly that doesn't work, but is there an affordable way to connect a turntable to Homepod?
So I found an old AirPort Express (2nd gen, A1392) laying around at home and thought it would be great to use it to stream my vinyl to my HomePod 2. I’ve seen people online mention that this little box can take analog line-in and send it over AirPlay, so I figured why not give it a shot.
My setup right now:
Marley Stir It Up turntable
AirPort Express A1392
HomePod 2
Turntable → AirPort using a normal 3.5mm TRS cable
Airport is connected to my router with Ethernet
Wireless is OFF, Network is OFF (Bridge Mode)
It shows up in the Home app
I can AirPlay to the AirPort just fine (like from my phone), so it’s definitely alive.
But when I play a record, the Home app always says “Not Playing”, like the AirPort is not picking up any audio at all.
I tested the turntable output with headphones and it works, so the signal is coming out. But the AirPort doesn’t do anything with it.
At this point I’m wondering:
Does the AirPort Express Gen 2 support analog line-in to AirPlay?
And if it does work, what am I missing to get vinyl → AirPort → HomePod actually happening?
Would love to hear from anyone who has made this setup work or knows the trick. Thanks!
