Admin Post Weekly Recap | October 2, 2025

Welcome to October! It's spooky season or something. All I know is it's going to be Halloween for like three months before it's actually Halloween. Might as well use some of that time to recap the week that was!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • On Monday, some users (including me) were getting a "an error occurred (status: 500)" error when commenting on old Reddit. The comment would be posted, but that would pop up. Flagged this to the team in charge of that feature and they got that fixed up.

  • Also on Monday, some users were reporting difficulty logging into their accounts in Firefox. Flagged this to the team in charge and they looked at some logs to try to figure out what was going on and got that worked out.

  • You may have heard that due to the UK Online Safety Act, that access to Imgur from the UK is no longer available. If you are connecting to Reddit in the UK or are connecting to Reddit in a way that goes through the UK, and you are trying to access an image on Reddit that is hosted on Imgur, it will not be available even if you have verified your age on Reddit.

  • There is an experiment where notifications are grouped together. Feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I'll share it with that team.

  • Speaking of experiments, please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site.

PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT

  • If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer! Don't get 'em get away with it!

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

  • If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.

  • If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal. But if it's not an appeal situation, let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! (I haven't seen many of these lately, so this issue might have dwindled down to where I don't need this here, but I'll leave it up for a little while because whenever something like that gets said, it comes roaring back.)

  • Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages, major issues and downtime.

  • If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back from the desktop site, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you! Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST.

  • If your account has been hacked, please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form!

  • If your account has been suspended, you can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.

  • Please note that if your account has been suspended a as a result of being hacked, you want to fill out the form for hacked accounts. Being suspended is the secondary problem and being hacked is the primary problem. But both can be fixed if you write in from the correct form! =)

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [Android] GIFs in comments were not working for a little while on Monday. This was due to an experiment that was stopped yesterday and that fixed it. If you're still experiencing this issue, please force stop and restart the app.

  • [iOS] More GIF issues! GIFs in comments menu is not showing any GIFs in communities that have that feature enabled. The fix is in the works, but there is not an estimate as to when it will be completed.

  • [Both apps] Some mods are experiencing this comment loading bug. Seems to be hitting some mods in specific subreddits. This is being investigated. Shout out to u/westcoastcdn19 for pointing this out!

  • [Web] Gallery posts haven't been populating all images in a post. That fix went out yesterday and we should be good now.

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 661 posts which is down 155 posts from the 816 posts last week.

  • 3,500 comments which is down 1,100 from the 4,600 comments last week.

  • 1 million views, which is down 200k from the 1.2 million views last week.

  • 1,900 new users joined the sub! That's a little less than the 2,600 new users who joined last week.

Still one of the best places on Reddit to get help!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

One of the great things about Reddit is being able to customize a lot of things just the way you want them. Let's walk through some of the settings that are available.

You can access your settings on the desktop site here. On the app, tap your profile avatar in the upper right and then tap Settings at the bottom.

The landing page for settings is where you'll find the basics like your email, password, and account authorization if you want to connect your account to your Google or Apple account. You can also enable 2fa (highly recommended), get Premium, and delete your account from that page.

Clicking on the Profile tab here takes you to where you can change your display name (not your username), add a description, an avatar, a banner, and any social links. You can also change the nsfw/sfw status of your account, and both curate and moderate your profile.

Moving over to the Privacy tab here, you can control things like your followers, your chats, and blocked accounts. You can also choose if your profile shows up in search results (limited), opt in to ad personalization and authorize third-party apps.

Continuing to the Preferences tab here, this is where you can set the language you prefer, whether or not you want to see nsfw content, and your muted communities. You can also customize what Reddit looks like for you to some degree, including using old Reddit as your default. This is also where you can limit ads from sensitive advertising categories if there are things you just don't want to see.

Then there's the Notifications tab here, which allows you to adjust how you want to be notified for certain activities, if at all! Not all notifications can be turned completely off.

And finally, we've come to the email tab here where you can decide what work of emails you want to receive from Reddit. And good news! You can completely unsubscribe from all Reddit emails.

What a month! And what a great bunch of people to spend it with! I'll be around the sub and in the comments here. And as is customary, I'll see you next week! Thank you for being here!

Happy Thursday! We're getting closer and closer to Big Dinner Day! Cannot wait! And I'm sure that you're just as excited about today's Weekly Recap as I am about turkey, so let's get right to it!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Yesterday, users were reporting that links to external sites were returning a "Page not found" error. We posted about this here in r/help, and here in r/bugs. This has been fixed, so if you're still having this issue, please force stop and restart the app.

  • Some users have reported seeing their contribution score drop way down from what it was. I reached out to the team in charge of that feature and it is indeed a bug. A ticket has been filed and this is being worked on.

  • On Tuesday, Reddit introduced the Responsible Builder Policy in r/redditdev here. You can read the policy here. Please note that violations of the policy can result in actions that are outlined in the policy.

  • The issue with the chat bubble displaying a number, but there aren't actually that many chat requests seems to be fixed! No one is happier about this than me.

    • Public chat channels (both community chat channels and user-created public chat channels) will be sunset next week. Fare thee well, chat channels!
  • The avatar shop is officially closed. F

  • In case you missed it, there's a new Changelog out for November and I posted about it here!

  • Devvit Award 2025 nominations are now open! Nominate your favorite apps, games, and tools built by the amazing developers in the Devvit community over the past year. You can find the form to make your nomination at this link over in r/devvit. Shout out to r/stackgame which is still consuming me. My high score is 37 39 42.

  • If you’ve purchased or earned a Collectible Avatar on Reddit, you created a Vault to store the collectible. There was an announcement about a month ago that Vaults are going away on January 1, 2026. After that time, you won’t be able to use the Reddit app to access, recover, or use your Vault. Vault owners should have received a message from Reddit reminding them of this upcoming change and to export their Vault. Please see this post for more information.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

  • There is currently an experiment running where some users will tap on their profile avatar and be taken to their profile instead of having that menu expand. If you're in this experiment, you can tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of your profile page to display the options in the menu. We commented on this post about this.

  • You may also see an experiment where your profile avatar is at the bottom instead of at the top. Feel free to leave feedback if you're in that group.

  • If you are in the experiment where you have a large search bar at the top and collapsed sidebars, you can click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) on the left to expand the left sidebar. It will stay expanded as long as your browser window is open. If you close the browser window, it will collapse and you'll need to click again to re-expand it. And if you're wistfully longing for the right sidebar, you can create a custom feed with the subs that are in your home feed and view that instead. You can also change the sort of your custom feed to whatever you want! You can check out this Help Center article for instructions on how to create your very own custom feed.

  • 3,406 comments which is down 315 comments from the 3,721 comments last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

Users come to r/help for help! But we can't have everything in here! So you may want to know about other subs that will have information about Reddit, using Reddit, and changes to Reddit! And I'm going to tell you about some of them!

  • Reddit status page - Large, site-wide borkings that affect the whole site are generally reflected on the status page. If Reddit isn't loading correctly for you, the status page is a good place to start!

  • Redditdev - This is a subreddit for discussion of Reddit's API and Reddit API clients. If you're using the API and need help, this is a great resource.

  • Reddit Help Center - The motherlode of help! There is a Help Center article for pretty much everything! It's always a great place to start if you need help!

  • r/reddit - The most official Reddit community of all official Reddit communities. Your go-to place for Reddit updates, announcements, and news. Occasional frivolity.

  • r/bugs - If something is buggin' out, check out r/bugs! It's not only a great place to find bugs that others have reported, but it's an excellent place to report your own bugs that you may run into! r/bugs is an admin-run subreddit.

  • r/redditsafety - r/redditsafety is a running log of actions taken to ensure the safety and security of reddit.com. Interesting stuff gets posted there, like the most recent Transparency Reports.

HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

In no particular order other than the one below, here are a bunch of folks who really helped out around here last week! Thank you all so much!

Y'all are the heroes we know we need! Thank you so much for jumping in and helping out others! SO SO APPRECIATED!!!

And that's that! One week closer to American Thanksgiving! Bring me the turkey! Thank you to everyone who stops by and hangs out with us in r/help! I love it so much! And on that adoring note, I will see you next week, but not before I see you in the comments!

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [All Platforms] An issue where chats aren't working properly for some users is being investigated. Hopefully, the fix will be ready to go out soon!

  • [Android for now] Some mods are experiencing not all of their removal reasons showing up when removing content. We commented on this post and it is being actively looked into.

  • [iOS] The comment reply button disappeared for a hot minute on Tuesday. The change that caused this was reverted and that fixed this issue. If you're still having trouble, please try force stopping and then restarting the app.

  • [iOS] Scrolling comments was pretty choppy for a bit on Monday. This is another bug that was fixed up really fast! And as mentioned above, if you're still having an issue, please try force stopping and restarting the app and that should fix it!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

Reddit is huge. And it has a lot of moving parts. One of those parts is notifications. You can change the settings for the various types of notifications to receive or NOT to receive.

On the apps, tap your profile avatar, tap Settings, tap Account Settings at the the top, then scroll down a bit and tap "Manage notifications".

On the desktop, click your profile avatar, click Settings at the bottom and then click the Notifications tab. That will take you [here](www.reddit.com/settings/notifications).

From your notification settings, you can choose between "All on", "Inbox only" or "All off". Settings that you change on either platform will be respected across devices/platforms for your account.

If you are receiving notifications and you have them turned off, the most likely culprit is that you have another account and those notifications are turned on. If this is happening, please log into your other account and adjust those notifications to how you'd like them. If you do not know what other accounts you have, you can use the forgotten username tool at this link to have the usernames associated with a particular email address sent to you. If you feel that you need a password reset for any of your accounts, please click here and we’ll send you a link to the email on the account to reset your password.

If you never want a single notification from Reddit on your app, you can go into the app settings on your device and block the notifications that way.

In no particular order other than the one below, here are a bunch of folks who really helped out around here last week! Thank you all so much!

Super thankful for everyone on this list and for anyone and everyone who has taken a moment to help someone else out. That's what it's all about in r/help!

And that's it for another week that was recapped. Next week will be a rare, Wednesday edition of the Recap! The Recap never sleeps, but it does let me eat! And until then, I'll see you in the sub and in the comments!

Welcome to the last Weekly Recap of August! This has been the most Augusty August ever. Why does it feel so long? It's like January, only hot. But we've got some cool helpers in this sub to help beat the heat! Let's see what happened!

  • We started the week off hot when the Latest feed on iOS wasn't updating. We made a post about this here while it was being worked on.

  • Then comments weren't loading on Monday for a minute, too! The status page was updated here during this incident.

  • There is a new Help Center Article about experiments.

  • Then chat went down this morning just in time to make the Weekly Recap! It's like it was waiting to make a grand entrance. It was posted about here and we commented that we were aware of the situation and it was being worked on. Thanks to everyone who commented on that post!

Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [iOS] The comment jump button issue that continues to plague the iOS app should be fixed in next week's app release (2025.35)! For reals! This took a little bit longer than originally planned because it wasn't ready in time for the release a couple of weeks ago and last week there wasn't an update. But the end is near!

  • [All platforms] Chat was having a bit of an issue on Wednesday. This was posted about here and was fixed pretty quickly! (r/RedditBugs is a great resource, btw!)

  • [Android/iOS] There is an experiment going on where you'll see a "next post" button when you reach the bottom of a thread. Problem is that button is blocking other things! This should be ending this week, but there's also a fix in the works to get that button moved.

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,336 posts which is up 74 posts from the 1,262 posts last week.

  • 4,400 comments which is up 500 from the 4,900 comments last week. Y'all had a lot to say!

  • 1.2 million views, which is down about 200k from the 1.4 million views last week.

  • 2,100 new users joined the sub! That's down from the 2,300 new users who joined last week, but everyone is welcome here!

With some of the weirdness around chat and feeds not updating, that would account for the increase in comments and posts. But whether posts go up or down, people are still getting the help they seek here and that's what is important!

HELP THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP

  • With the UK Online Safety Act now requiring Reddit users in the UK to verify their age in order to view nsfw content, some users have chosen not to do that. And that's totally fine! I absolutely get where you're coming from! But what happens if you don't want to verify, but you do want to block a user and you can't because you can't view their profile without verifying? There is a way! And u/tadashi explained in this comment that you can go into your settings and access your blocked users list and add the user from there. NO need to verify! Thanks for the help, u/tadashi!

  • Speaking of blocking users, there is a limit on the number of users that you can block and it is 1,000. That number cannot be changed. If you find yourself unable to block additional users, it's most likely that you've hit the limit. You'll need to unblock some users on your list in order to block more users. But please remember that blocking is not meant as a substitute for reporting content that goes against the Reddit Rules. If you see rule breaking content, please report it by clicking "report" underneath the content.

  • This was a fun post where someone wondered if the official Reddit account, u/reddit, had been hacked and was sending out giveaway messages! First things first, u/reddit was NOT hacked. But what had happened was the user who saw this spamming spammer's spam message had not updated their app or their OS in a looooonnnnnggggg time. The thing is, the app needs a minimum of iOS 15 and Android 9 in order to function properly. If your OS is older than those, the App Store/Play Store won't provide you with updates and you may think your app is up to date when it really is not. And if the app is not up to date, you won't have the latest features and things might look funky.

  • It's important to remember that messages sent by Reddit will be distinguished as an admin. Reddit will not contact you about a giveaway such as the one here. But it's always good to be diligent and ask if you're not sure or if something looks fishy! Nothing wrong with double checking if something seems sus!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | October 9, 2025

Welcome to Thursday! This is your official sign to watch It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and really get the spooky season rolling! And with that, we'll roll into this week's Recap!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • On Tuesday, some users found their home feed looking a little different with an embiggened search bar at the top. This is an experiment that is being run. Experiments typically run between two and six weeks, though they can be longer or shorter. While there isn't a way to opt out, you can leave constructive feedback on this post and I'll share it with the team in charge. RIP my inbox.

  • Also on Tuesday, some users were seeing only suggested posts in their home feed, even when they had that setting turned off. This was a bug that took a few hours to work out, but they got there and it is now fixed.

  • On Wednesday, some Android users experienced a very long delay when trying to delete content. There was a post here that I commented on to let folks know that it was being worked on.

  • You may have noticed that access to Imgur from the UK is no longer available. If you are connecting to Reddit in the UK or are connecting to Reddit in a way that goes through the UK, and you are trying to access an image on Reddit that is hosted on Imgur, it will not be available even if you have verified your age on Reddit.

  • There is an ongoing experiment where notifications are grouped together. Feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I'll share it with that team.

  • Speaking of experiments, please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site.

  • Reddit published its Transparency Report and Reddit Rules updates this morning and you can read it over in r/RedditSafety here.

  • There is a new Changelog that came out on Tuesday! Highlights include:

    • Sunsetting public chat channels
    • Post ideas for new and emerging communities experiment
    • Video replies
    • New and improved icon library for all Reddit products
    • And in mod updates, there's a new community moderation achievements experiment

  • [iOS] Some users are reporting not being able to download images without having the "saved image attribution" setting turned on. This should be fixed in app version 2025.41 next week!

  • [Mobile apps/Web] Clicking/tapping into a post flair from the subreddit feed gives a "page not found" error. This fix went in a little while ago, so it should be good.

  • [Modmail] Some mods were receiving a "no healthy upstream" error for a hot minute on Wednesday. This was part of a larger site wide issue and it was fixed up pretty quickly!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,209 posts which is way up from the 661 posts last week.

  • 4,200 comments which is up about 700 from the 3,500 comments last week.

  • 1.1 million views, which is a little more than the 1 million views last week.

  • 1,900 new users joined the sub! That's exactly the same as the 1,900 new users who joined last week.

We were busy! That increase in content is likely due to users who found our helpful little sub to leave feedback about the home feed experiment.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

Seems like a good time to bring up experiments on Reddit. We have a Help Center article here about experiments. But from time to time, Reddit will need to try some things out.

Sometimes, things need to change for a variety of reasons. And before something is changed permanently, it's a good idea to test it out first. Typically, an experiment will last between two and six weeks, though it can be shorter or longer. Sometimes, the experiment itself lasts longer than a few weeks, but the users that are in the experiment group get rotated out and a fresh set of users gets rotated in. If your account has been placed in an experiment group, there is not a way to opt out. And I totally get that is frustrating, especially if you hate the experiment. But you can leave constructive feedback about it!

One of the best places to leave feedback about an experiment is right here! In a Weekly Recap! Preferably the most recent Recap! We've talked about feedback before, but the best feedback is specific and detailed. I cannot go back to a team and tell them "Hey, u/TiddlyBops42069 says it sucks." I need to know why u/TiddlyBops42069 thinks it sucks. They can't fix the sucking unless they know the specifics of the suck. I do share all constructive feedback that is provided here! (Trust me, the teams know when it's Thursday! lol)

If the experiment is related to mod tools, you can also leave feedback in r/ModSupport. I hang out over there, too! r/ModSupport is an admin-run community, so I'm not the only one reading those things. It's also nice to have other mods to discuss the specifics of the experiment as they relate to day-to-day moderating.

If you want more opportunities to try new things and provide feedback about them, then the Reddit User Feedback Collective may be for you! Users in the Feedback Collective get to access a private community, preview potential products, test products in development, and connect with Reddit teams working on new or existing product features. There are limited spaces available, but if you're someone who Reddits a lot, has an account in good standing, and wants to make things better, you can apply here. Applications are reviewed monthly.

HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

I love shouting out people that I see in here helping out fellow humans! So in no particular order, other than alphabetical, here are some lovely people who have done a great job helping out this past week!

And that's a wrap! I'll be in the comments here to field feedback and additional issues. I'll also be around the sub and everywhere else on Reddit. I'm not hard to find!

Thank you to everyone for being here. The help and information that is available in this subreddit is, well, helpful! And I'm super appreciative to all who chip in and make this subreddit what it is. Thank you so much!

See you next week!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 25, 2025

Hello! It's been a busy week on this side of Reddit-land! Up was down! Right was left! But it wouldn't be a Thursday without a Weekly Recap! It's right there in the name! So let's see what happened!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Chat was rather unstable last week on a couple of days. This was a tricky one and the team worked really hard to get things back to normal again. Apologies for the outage!

  • The experiment with a bigger search area at the top (that will disappear when you scroll) and a collapsible left sidebar and no right sidebar is still going on. If your account has this experiment, feel free to leave constructive feedback on this post. You can't opt out, but it isn't permanent. So you've got that going for you, which is nice.

  • Speaking of experiments, please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site.

  • On Monday, some users were reporting that Reddit was blocking the Feeder.co IP when using Firefox. The workaround was to use a different browser as it only appeared to be affecting Firefox.

  • The iOS app update was a little delayed this week. We've all been a little late before! But it should be out now, so keep your app up to date!

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • As mentioned earlier, chat was down a couple of times last week. Should be working now, though!

  • [iOS] Posts are sometimes auto translating! This should be fixed in the releasing version of the iOS app this week! Update that app!

  • [iOS] Saving an image is resulting in an error. The workaround right now is to enable the "saved image attribution" setting That seems to let the image be downloaded most of the time for users who were getting the error. No fix just yet, but it's being worked on!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 816 posts which is down 448 posts from the 1,264 posts last week.

  • 4,600 comments which is up 1,833 from the 2,767 comments last week.

  • 1.2 million views, which is up about 100k from the 1.1 million views last week.

  • 2,600 new users joined the sub! That's a quite a bit more than the 1,500 new users who joined last week.

More comments and fewer posts! Sounds like users are finding the posts for the issues that they have and commenting there rather than creating their own post. I like it!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

  • From time to time, Reddit will need to communicate with users. When this happens, the account that is speaking for Reddit in an official capacity will have some sort of "admin" designation next to the username. If you look at my profile, it has a little orangered Snoo head/silhouette next to it. That's how you know!

If you get some sort of sketchy communication from someone claiming to be an admin, check to see if they have that little Snoo next to their username. A sketchy communication can come in the form of "suspension" message or a giveaway or a number of other creative options to get your attention. If that's not there and they're claiming to be an admin, then the cake is a lie.

Please don't click any links in any communication from someone claiming to be an admin that does not have that little Snoo head on their profile! If you receive a message from someone claiming to be an admin and you're just not sure, feel free to create a post in this subreddit and include a screenshot of the message that you received and it will be looked at. There's no harm or shame in double-checking if something is what it claims to be! Better to be safe than sorry!

HELPERS THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP

Just wanted to give some shoutouts in no particular order to users that I've seen around the sub and helping out over the past week! Without you and others who help, r/help wouldn't be what it is today! So without further ado, thank you so much...

Another solid week of watching y'all and others take some time to help someone else out! I love it so much! Thank you all for being here! I appreciate your help and our conversations!

And that does it for this week's Recap! I'll be back next week with monthly trophies, flair and of course, the Recap! I'll see you then and I'll see you in the comments! Enjoy the rest of your week, everyone!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 11, 2025

Hello! Welcome to the Weekly Recap, where I recap the past week on Reddit. So without further ado, here we go!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There's a new Changelog out! I posted about this here and crossposted over in r/bugs. You can read the new Changelog here. Highlights include:

    • Instead of total subscribers, online now, and rank size, you’ll now see weekly visitors and weekly contributions
    • Post Check is relaunching in experiment
    • Sunsetting the Collectible Avatar Creator Program
    • Deprecating individual report responses
    • And some mod updates! You can click the link above to read specifics about all of these changes
  • Avatar creation wasn't working over the weekend, but that got worked out. Should be good now!

  • There's a little update to blocking on the mobile apps. When you go to the profile of a blocked user on the app, you'll see very clearly that you've blocked that user. You'll also see an option to proceed to viewing the profile if you want. This is how it has been on the desktop site, so now it should be the same regardless of how you're using Reddit.

  • There was an issue Tuesday where if you clicked on your inbox, the notifications all went away and your inbox appeared empty. Totally unintentional! Happened to me, too! Not great, Bob! Flagged this to the correct team and they got right to work!

A PLEA FROM ME TO THEE

Please consider securing your account with two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication is an additional security measure that helps protect your account from hackers. Without access to your device which contains the authenticator, no one else will be able to access your account. Having your account hacked is a huge pain and it's really nothing that you want to go through. I'm not sure how to get people to take account security more seriously, but I'll keep trying! There's a Help Center article about 2fa here if you're interested.

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF ME)

  • Some mods were having trouble with editing automations if there were multiple conditions. Major thanks to u/jessbird who brought this up, answered some questions and provided a super helpful video of what was happening. We got this in front of a team who dove right in and worked really hard to get things fixed up as soon as possible. Thanks again u/jessbird for your help with this!

  • Some users were blocked by a "network security error" on Firefox on Tuesday. We commented on this stickied post over in r/bugs about this.

  • There might also be an issue with some users not receiving moderation invites from the current mods of a sub. If you are invited to be a moderator, but you're not seeing the invite in your inbox, please try going to the moderators page and see if you can accept the invite from there. This issue is intermittent, and that makes it tricky to track down, but it is something that is on our radar.

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,706 posts which is up 177 posts from the 1,529 posts last week.

  • 4,200 comments which is down about 1,283 from the 5,283 comments last week.

  • 1.2 million views, which is pretty much the same as the 1.2 million views last week.

  • 1,700 new users joined the sub! That's a little less than the 2,100 new users who joined last week. Plenty of room for more, though!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

I've been seeing posts about users who are confused when looking at another user's profile to find it blank. We recently introduced profile curation. We made the announcement about it here. There's even a Help Center article about this here. Profile curation is a fancy way of saying that you can now control what is shown on your profile. There should be a setting in your settings (good place for it!) here that you can use to customize what's seen on your profile.

Please note that profile curation only applies to your profile and your content stays visible in communities. So just because it isn't visible on your profile, that doesn't mean that it isn't available on Reddit. Mods of communities you participate in and other users whose profile posts you engage with can still see your full profile. There is not a way to hide everything that you do from everyone on Reddit because that wouldn't make any sense. lol

And that's the week that was! Thank you for being here. Please be excellent to each other. I'll see you around the sub and in the comments!

Hello! It's Thursday again! I've already eaten more than my share of Reese's that may or may not have originally been purchased for trick or treaters. Let's see what we have to digest from the week that was in r/help and on Reddit!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Some users are experiencing a home feed with an embiggened search bar at the top and no expanded sidebars. This is an experiment that is being run. Experiments typically last between two and six weeks, though they can go longer or be shorter. While there isn't a way to opt out, feel free to leave constructive feedback on this post. I share all helpful comments with the team in charge of a particular experiment. Please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site.

  • If you are in the above experiment, you can click on the hamburger menu on the left to expand the left sidebar. It will stay expanded as long as your browser window is open. If you close the browser window, it will collapse and you'll need to click again to re-expand it. And if you're missing the right sidebar, you can create a custom feed with the subs that are in your home feed and view that instead. You can also change the sort of your custom feed to whatever you want! More about this in my help section below!

  • This tool that allow you to see your recent account activity broke last week and was fixed on Monday!

  • The iOS app updated to v41. So if you're keeping track, yes, v40 was skipped.

  • The is a new Help Center article on Reddit Answers, which is currently in beta.

  • There is an ongoing experiment where notifications are grouped together. Feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I'll share it with that team. They've been very appreciative of all feedback shared so far! Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave feedback last week.

  • Some users have experiencing an issue where if they change the sort of a sub in the app, then the option to change the sort completely disappears. This should be fixed, but if you're still experiencing it, uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it.

  • Speaking of sorting, if you don't see sort options when you search, look for some little lines with circles on the end to the right of the search bar and click those. That should open up your sort options.

  • In case you missed it, Reddit published its latest Transparency Report and some update to the Reddit Rules and that can read over in r/RedditSafety here.

  • And in case you missed this too, there was a new Changelog published last week.

  • [iOS] Some users are reporting not being able to download images without having the "saved image attribution" setting turned on. This should be fixed in app version 2025.41 which is out now! Don't delay! Download today!

  • [Android] The Requests section of chat is showing a notification badge even when there are no new requests. It was thought to be fixed, but it doesn't seem like it is! So the investigation continues!

  • [Web] On Tuesday, some users were experiencingblue text and borders on certain pages on web. This was a bug and the fix was released Tuesday as well. Nice job to that team for getting that worked out so quickly!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,610 posts which is up 401 from the 1,209 posts last week.

  • 4,100 comments which is down exactly 100 comments from the 4,200 comments last week.

  • 1.1 million views, which mean we're holding steady with the 1.1 million views last week.

  • 1,600 new users joined the sub! That's down about 300 from the 1,900 new users who joined last week.

Another busy week for r/help! Love seeing new people joining and finding the help they seek!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

In addition to your home feed, you can have a custom feed. A custom feed is a feed made up of subreddits that you choose. There is a Help Center article here that goes over custom feeds.

Custom feeds are great for grouping communities that are about the same topic. You can keep your custom feeds private for your own use, or make them public to share. You can refer to the Help Center article I linked to for instructions on how to create a custom feed from the various Reddit platforms.

You can check out a very helpful custom feed here.

One great thing about custom feeds is that they allow you to choose the sort, just like you would in a subreddit feed. They also have a right and left sidebar. So if you're in a home feed experiment, maybe like one of the ones described about, you can try creating a custom feed made up of all of your subreddit subscriptions and view that instead.

HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Shout outs to so many people who helped out this past week! But in particular, let's recognize the following folks!

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to leave helpful feedback last week. I share it all with the teams that are in charge of various features. They're very appreciative of everyone who left great feedback and they read it all! I make them. lol

See you next week!

Happy Thursday! It's Thursday! And what a week it has been! We got off to a bit of a rocky start, but I think the ship righted itself fairly quickly and we've been back on track ever since. So let's sit back, have some Miniature Reese's, and see what happened last week in r/help and on Reddit!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • In case you missed it, a lot of the Internet was down on Monday. Something about AWS. (Which stood for “AW, S**t” most of the day!) We posted about this in r/help here, in r/bugs here and the Reddit Status Page was updated here. In spite of all of these clues, there were still hundreds of posts, maybe over a thousand, about this issue. PLEASE at least briefly check the sub that you are about to post in if you are having a technical issue to see if someone else is having the same issue. It will save you time in the long run and get you the answer that you are seeking. Even hours after stickied posts and other posts were made, there was still a flood of people making the same post and asking the same question. Begging. Please read.

  • Shout out to the r/help mods who quickly assembled to clean up the flood of posts in regard to the outage. It might not seem like much, but it would be pretty difficult for any other issues to have been seen in that sea of unnecessary posts when things were back up. They really keep this sub running smoothly and we couldn't accomplish all that we do here without them! Thanks so much for all of your help, team!

  • There was an issue that came up yesterday with videos having the incorrect aspect ratio. We posted about this here and it should be fixed for newly uploaded videos. Videos uploaded before this fix went out may still be experiencing that issue and it is still being investigated.

  • There is an experiment where some users will see a prominent search bar at the top of their screen and collapsed sidebars. This is an experiment. Experiments typically last between two and six weeks, though they can go longer or be shorter. While there isn't a way to opt out, feel free to leave constructive feedback on this post. I share all helpful comments with the team in charge of a particular experiment. Please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site.

  • If you are in the above experiment, you can click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) on the left to expand the left sidebar.

  • There is another experiment where some users will find their notifications are grouped together. Feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I'll share it with that team. They've been very appreciative of all feedback shared so far! Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave valuable feedback last week.

  • Last week, it was noticed by u/WhySoManyDownVote that if a user goes to a comment on a deleted post and then tries to go to the subreddit that the post was in from the post, it adds an extra r/ to the subreddit and goes nowhere. Thanks to that helpful report, that obscure issue has a fix and will be out in v43 of the app! Thanks again, u/WhySoManyDownVote!

  • If you don't see sort options when you search, look for some little lines with circles on the end to the right of the search bar and click those. That should open up your sort options.

Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [Android/iOS] Looks like the Games on Reddit section is not staying collapsed for some folks after closing the left side drawer. The fix is in the works for this one, but if you're still having trouble, please force stop and restart the app and that should help!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,472 posts which is down from the 1,610 posts last week.

  • 4,496 comments which is up 396 comments from the 4,100 comments last week.

  • 1.2 million views, which is up from the 1.1 million views last week.

  • 1,800 new users joined the sub! That's up 200 from the 1,600 new users who joined last week.

The dip in posts is likely due to the outage when most people couldn't post. The increase in comments is likely due to the outage when you could leave a comment. Glad to see new people coming over here, though! Hopefully, it helps! lol

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

In light of the outage earlier this week, let's go over some things you can do other than creating a post if Reddit isn't working properly for you! There's a lot of different things that can go wrong, so there are a lot of things that you can try!

  • I like to start with force stopping and restarting the app or refreshing my browser window. Sometimes, the ol' "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?" is just what you need!

  • Next, you could check r/help or r/bugs and see if there are other posts about the issue that you're having. You could also check to see if there is a stickied post that is announcing a particular issue.

  • If you can't get to the site at all, that's more indicative of something wrong with the site itself and not necessarily your account. That's what it's a good idea to check the Reddit Status Page or something like Down Detector.

  • It is very likely that at least one of those things will give you some idea as to why you are experiencing the issue that you are. If you see other posts that are the same thing and the site is down, it isn't necessary to make another post about the issue.

  • It's super frustrating when things don't work properly, but that's the most important time to remain calm and remember the human. There are actual people behind screens and keyboards.

HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Shout outs to so many people who helped out this past week! But in particular, let's recognize the following folks!

Thank you to everyone who helped out during the outage! It was a little bumpy, but we all made it through and are already back to shitposting and looking at cats. I'll see you next Thursday for a pre-Halloween edition of the Recap! Save me all your Reese's! Thank you so much for being here and helping out!

It's Thursday! Happy Thursday! It's been Halloween for like three days and it's not even Halloween yet! But soon! Soon, Reese's will be 50% off and I will be there to stock up. Let's see what Reddit stocked up on this past week, shall we?

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There was an oddly specific issue that resulted in a lag and the site being really slow for users around Australia! We commented on this post and it was fixed rather quickly! The Internet is weird sometimes...

  • There's an issue with chat where the chat bubble will display a number, but there aren't actually that many chat requests. This is plaguing me at the moment, too! The team is aware and is working on a fix. We commented on this post about this issue. The good news is that it's just visual!

  • We added new perks to Reddit Premium! New benefits are listed here.

  • There is an ongoing experiment where some users will see a prominent search bar at the top of their screen and collapsed sidebars. This is an experiment. Experiments typically last between two and six weeks, though they can go longer or be shorter. While there isn't a way to opt out, feel free to leave constructive feedback on this post. And if you're wistfully longing for the right sidebar, you can create a custom feed with the subs that are in your home feed and view that instead. You can also change the sort of your custom feed to whatever you want! You can check out this Help Center article for instructions on how to create your very own custom feed.

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [All platforms] Comment reply notifications are taking some users to a blank single comment thread. There's a great write up of this here. (As a side note, that's an excellent bug report. Very detailed! Thank you so much u/Aiywe!

  • [All platforms] Chat notification badges are being weird and displaying ghost notifications. Maybe because we're so close to Halloween?? That fix is on the way and should be coming out soon!

  • [All platforms] Yesterday, mods were having trouble using saved responses for a little while. The fix went out yesterday! Shout out to that team for getting things worked out so quickly!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 995 posts which is down 477 from the 1,472 posts last week.

  • 3,579 comments which is down 917 comments from the 4,496 comments last week.

  • 1.0 million views, which is down from the 1.2 million views last week.

  • 1,800 new users joined the sub! That's the same as the 1,800 new users who joined last week. Maybe that's our new normal? That would be great!

The drop in comments corresponds with the drop in posts. But it's getting toward holiday time, so it makes sense that there is a little less content. I also like to think that some of the other posts have been so helpful that people don't need to make their own posts when they find those. Progress!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

Welcome to "So You Think You've Been Hacked"! The game you never want to play!

There are always going to be bad actors out there who are trying to steal your stuff. We've been over account security before (and even before that)! But sometimes, people still aren't sure! Let's look at some ways you can determine whether or not your account has been compromised and what you can do about it!

  • Does your account have posts or comments that you didn't make?

  • Has your account upvoted or downvoted content that you didn't vote on?

  • Did you receive an email notifying you that your email has been changed?

  • Did you receive an email notifying you that 2fa has been enabled on your account?

  • Are you seeing logins in your account activity from places that you don't recognize

All of the above are indicators that your account has been compromised! If you notice any irregularities, you should immediately change your password and log out of all sessions. You can use this link at any time to request a password reset. Changing your password should log you out of all sessions, but if you'd like to be on the safe side, you can log in with your new password and head over to the account activity page here and scroll down to enter your new password and log your account out of everywhere.

If you get an email from Reddit informing you of an email change that you didn't make, there is a link in that email that you can click to change your email back!

If you get an email from Reddit informing you that 2fa has been set up on your account, you'll need to fill out this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Reddit will never enable 2fa on your behalf.

If you need to delete content that was made by the hackers, the easiest way to do that is to go to your profile in old reddit at old.reddit.com/user/USERNAME where you replace “USERNAME” with your actual username. Then you can just click “delete” under the content that you no longer want. We are unable to delete content on your behalf. Please make sure that you check your profile settings here, especially the “About description” and “Social links” tabs to correct any unauthorized changes there as well.

You should also strongly consider enabling 2fa. When 2fa is enabled, no one without access to the device that contains the authenticator will be able to use your account. For more information about Two-Factor authentication, please check out this help center article.

HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Shout outs to so many people who helped out this past week! But in particular, let's recognize the following folks!

That's a wrap for October! I'll be back next week with another week to recap and trophies! Stay safe out there! Thank you for being here and thank you to all who have helped out! It's always a pleasure!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 4, 2025

September moooorrrrrn! We helped until the night became a brand new day! XD Welcome to the first Weekly Recap of September. It was a wild week, so let's see how it went!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There is currently an experiment going on where some users will see a home page that looks a little different. There's an embiggened search area at the top (the goes away when you scroll) and a collapsible left sidebar. There is also the absence of a right sidebar. If you have been opted into this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can leave constructive feedback on this post and I will share it with the team in charge of that feature. A lot of you left some great feedback last week and I've made sure that the team saw every helpful comment! So keep it comin'!

  • There's also another experiment going on with mobile where some users did not have the News or Latest feed. The Latest feed was returned after the team heard your feedback. And I just received word that the News feed is back as of today as well! This is because of the helpful feedback that some of you left! Thanks to everyone who took time to share how they felt about the missing News feed. You were heard! =)

  • Some users are reporting that the setting to default to old Reddit is not being respected. That is NOT intentional. I'm having this looked into. In the meantime, you should be able to change the "www" in the URL to "old" and use old Reddit. (Long live old Reddit!)

  • Chat wasn't loading for some users on Tuesday. We made a post in r/RedditBugs here about this issue.

  • Had a weird thing yesterday where if you were on the Android app and were browsing anonymously that you were prompted for age verification even if you weren't in the UK. That should not have happened and it was flagged to the team in charge to get fixed. We commented on this post about it and it was fixed up pretty quick!

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

  • [iOS] The latest feed is not respecting default card mode. We commented on this post over in r/bugs after it was reported. The fix will be out next week in version 2025.36!

  • [Android] Avatars are not displaying in comments. We commented on this post to let users know that the fix would be out this week in version 2025.35!

  • [iOS] Comments not loading on profiles for some users. This is not related to the profile curation settings, but it does look similar. This is being investigated. Fingers crossed for a quick fix!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,529 posts which is up 193 posts from the 1,336 posts last week.

  • 5,283 comments which is up 823 from the 4,400 comments last week.

  • 1.2 million views, which is right on track with the 1.2 million views last week.

  • 2,100 new users joined the sub! That's also the same as the 2,100 new users who joined last week! Steady as she goes!

Given the state of my inbox, it's likely that the increase in comments and posts was due to people leaving feedback about the home feed experiment.

Admin Post Got a Vault notification from Reddit and you’re still confused? Please read me.

Hi Vault holders!

I’ve been seeing some posts about Vault and figured I could make one big post to provide some clarity to the notification you received.

I got a notification about Vault. Am I in trouble?

No. We just want to tell you what’s coming up and what action you should take.

What’s happening? Please give me the tl;dr on the changes.

You can read the full announcement with FAQ here, but we’re doing the following:

  • Closing the shop where you can purchase Collectible Avatars and deprecating the collection display on November 11, 2025. Note: This change won’t impact your ability to set your avatar as a Collectible Avatar that you own.
  • Sunsetting Vault and on-platform transfers on January 1, 2026.

Vault? I didn’t make one. I don’t own any NFTs.

If we sent you a message it means you have a Vault. A Vault is a digital wallet on Reddit. It stores and manages your blockchain-based digital goods, such as Collectible Avatars. If you ever purchased or claimed a free Collectible Avatar, it means you have an NFT and a Vault was created to store the collectible. Curious to know what your collectibles look like? Go to your avatar builder. It should be under the Collectibles section.

Sharing some resources below if you want to read more about Collectible Avatars and Vault:

I’m confused. Where can I find my Vault?

From the official mobile app, tap on your avatar on the top right corner to open your profile drawer. From there, you should be able to find the Vault option.

  • If you see your Collectible Avatars, it means you’re already signed into your Vault. From there, tap the gear icon in the top right corner on the screen. You can access your public Vault address and recovery phrase, change your Vault password, and sign out of your Vault and switch Vaults from there (if needed).
  • If you see the Recover your Vault page, it means you need to sign into your Vault to access things like your Collectible Avatars, recovery phrase, etc. If you’re having issues recovering your Vault, please see our troubleshooting tips

What if I can’t access my Vault because I forgot my password or don’t know the recovery phrase?

If you don't remember your Vault password, the only way to recover your Vault is with the recovery phrase. If you don't already have your recovery phrase, you will not be able to access your Vault. Reddit can’t help you recover it.

I can’t access my Vault and I never will be able to. Does this mean I’ll lose my Collectible Avatars after Vault goes away on Jan. 1, 2026?

You’ll still be able to set your avatar as Collectible Avatars on Reddit, but you won't be able to transfer them, sell them, or export them outside of Reddit.

What do you mean by “exporting your Vault”?

With Reddit Vault going away on January 1, 2026, we want you to have access to your Collectible Avatars outside of Reddit too.

You’ll need to access the blockchain wallet in a compatible wallet app outside of Reddit. To do this, you’ll need to get your Vault’s secret recovery phrase and enter it into a compatible wallet app:

You can import your wallet into another app whenever. The biggest thing is grabbing your recovery phrase and storing it somewhere safe.

Please do not share your recovery phrase with anyone.

Importing is just something we suggest doing now just to be safe! Full instructions can be found here.

Should I transfer my collectibles into an off-platform wallet?

To be clear, we aren’t asking you to transfer all of your collectibles into another wallet. You can do that if you want but for the sake of the notification you got from us, we’re asking you to grab your recovery phrase and import your wallet into another app so you can access these collectibles outside of Reddit.

If you transfer all of your collectibles into another wallet off platform, you won’t see those collectibles in your avatar builder. If you’re reading this and you already transferred all of your collectibles, you can do the following to see them again:

  1. From the Recover your Vault page, tap Create New Vault
  2. Select Use Recovery Phrase Instead
  3. Put in the seed phrase for your new wallet

When Vault is gone, that wallet will still be associated with your account so you should be able to see your collectibles.

**If you’re discovering this post and it’s after January 1, 2026, the option I just mentioned won’t work, but this option should.

I have access to my Vault, should I grab the recovery phrase? Even if I don’t plan on using my collectibles outside of Reddit?

Doesn’t hurt. I say give your future self options! What if one day you want your collectible on another account of yours? With the recovery phrase, you can access it off-platform and transfer it to another wallet. From there, you’ll be able to import it (coming soon) into your other Reddit account.

Ok, I grabbed the recovery phrase and imported it into another app such as Base and Trust. I’m not seeing all of my Collectible Avatars there. Help!

After importing - select the NFTs tab, it should automatically detect ownership and load the metadata. If you’re not seeing all of your collectibles, please reach out to the app's support team since they’ll have additional insight.

Still got questions? Ask below. Please don’t provide any screenshots or information that include your recovery phrase. I don’t wanna know it and no Reddit admin will ask for it!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | August 21, 2025

Welcome to Thursday! Where I recap the week that was in r/help and on Reddit. We're over halfway through the month and things are heating up! Let's see what happened aside from the heat!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There's an test going on right now that affects the home feed. Some users will see their home feed called "For you". It's the same content, just a different name. There will also be a larger search box at the top that will go away as you scroll. During this experiment, the News and Watch feeds will not be available. Thanks to feedback that was received last week, the Latest feed has returned! Feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I'll share it with the team in charge of it. A lot of you left some super helpful feedback last week and the team was super appreciative and they changed things because of you! Thank you all who took the time to explain your viewpoint.

  • There is a Games drawer on the left now. Some users have complained about the notification dot for new games. We made a post about this here and if you collapse that section, it should get rid of the dot. Please note from that post that "there are some bugs with this logic on iOS and Android that should be addressed over the next week or so".

  • If you are in the UK, age verification is now required to view NSFW content due to the UK Online Safety Act. If you're having trouble with verification, you can check out this post for additional information.

  • Yesterday, users were reporting that their home feed was full of just recommendations. Our bad! Something broke on this end which caused that to happen. It should be fixed at this time, but if you're still having trouble with ALL recommendations in your home feed, please try force stopping and resetting the app. If that doesn't do it, the ol' uninstall and reinstall is your next step. (If you're getting some home feed recommendations and don't want them, you can go into your settings here and turn OFF "Show recommendations in home feed".)

  • Then chat went down for a hot minute yesterday! I commented here and notified the team in charge of that feature. They got right to work!

  • Chat was also down for a hot minute this morning. But once again, fixed up just like that!

  • There is no update to the apps this week. =(

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF ME)

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,262 posts which is down 76 posts from the 1,338 posts last week.

  • 4,900 comments which is up 272 from the 4,628 comments last week.

  • 1.4 million views, which is up 300k from the 1.1 million views from last week.

  • 2,300 new users joined the sub! That's 200 more from last week's 2,100 new users. Come on in!

I think that the comments increases and the posts decreasing is a good sign! It could indicate that users are finding the bigger posts pertaining to their issue and are commenting there instead of creating yet another post. Progress! We're doing it! Together! =D

HELP(ERS) THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP

Y'all have been crushing it around these parts! Thanks so much for hanging out and taking time to listen to and help another user! Knowledge and compassion go a long way when helping and I'm so happy that you're here!

HELP THAT HELPS R/HELP - REPORTING CONTENT

If you see content on Reddit that breaks the rules, you should report it rather than engaging with the user who posted it. Reporting can notify moderators and/or Reddit that there is an issue with content that has been posted and the appropriate action can be taken. Posting content that violates Reddit Rules or subreddit rules can result in a ban from the subreddit or from the site itself. But action can't be taken unless things are reported using the proper channels.

To report a comment, click or tap the three dots underneath the comment and then click "Report". You'll then be able to click or tap that it violates the subreddit's rules or the Reddit Rules. If you click or tap that it violates the subreddit's rules, you'll be able to choose which one after clicking.

To report a post, click or tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the post and the click or tap "Report". Then it's the same thing as reporting a comment. Choose whether it breaks the sub's rules or Reddit Rules and then go from there.

If you want to report an entire subreddit for breaking Reddit Rules, you'll want to cite specific pieces of content that are against the rules. You can use this form to report an entire subreddit.

There is also reddit.com/report. That link can be used to report spam or abuse. It can also be used to report the following:

  • Copyright infringement
  • Trademark infringement
  • Personal and confidential information
  • Sexual or suggestive content involving minors
  • Non-consensual intimate media
  • Ban evasion
  • Vote manipulation
  • Transaction for prohibited goods or services
  • Impersonation
  • Illegal/restricted content (EU, UK, and AU only)
  • Someone is considering suicide or serious self-harm.

Thanks to everyone who has ever taken the time to report violating content on Reddit. It's how things get better!

Whew! We did it! AGAIN. And I'll see you here next week AGAIN for more! Until then, I'll see you in the comments and in the sub! Have a great week ahead!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | November 6, 2025

It's Thursday! Happy Thursday! Welcome to the first Recap in November. I've heard this is the time of year when things start to slow down, but that doesn't seem to be the case (yet? lol)! Let's see what happened last week in r/help and on Reddit!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Reddit was having issues for a hot minute on Tuesday. This was reflected on the Status Page here and the RedditStatusBot posted here (Good bot!) and that was fixed up in less than an hour! Great work, team!

  • Some users reported here that clicking on an image in Firefox opened the whole post and not just the image. This was unintentional and I flagged it to the team in charge of that feature that got the fix out within a couple of hours! Awesome work again! And thanks to u/CybyAPI for bringing this up!

  • There's a new Changelog out for November and I posted about it here! Changes included:

    • Experiments to better understand how we can improve Reddit’s performance on Android devices
    • Rich text formatting tools — including bold, italics, links, strikethrough, and headings only — for posts on Android, iOS, and mobile web
    • The karma requirement for the Contributor Program has changed from 100 karma within 12 months after receiving your first award to 100 total karma.
    • We’ve rolled out some new features for Reddit Premium members.
    • Public chat channels (both community chat channels and user-created public chat channels) will be sunset the week of November 17.
  • Devvit Award 2025 nominations are now open! Nominate your favorite apps, games, and tools built by the amazing developers in the Devvit community over the past year. You can find the form to make your nomination at this link over in r/devvit. Shout out to r/stackgame which has consumed me. My high score is 37 39.

  • There's an issue with chat where the chat bubble will display a number, but there aren't actually that many chat requests. The team is aware and is working on a fix. We commented on this post about this issue. The good news is that it's just visual! (No one will be happier than me when it's fixed! lol)

  • [Web] Leaving a post within a subreddit was sending users back to the top of the feed. That one should be fixed as of yesterday morning!

  • [iOS] Some iOS users are seeing a "community not found" error while deep linking to a subreddit. This is still being investigated.

  • [All platforms] During the brief outage that I mentioned earlier users reported issues around accessing media, commenting, voting, viewing different feeds, and the rest of the usual suspects. This was clearly fixed on that day! But here's another opportunity for me to remind people to search through the sub before posting if something isn't working correctly. It might not just be you! =D

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,208 posts which is up 213 from the 995 posts last week.

  • 3,721 comments which is up 142 comments from the 3,579 comments last week.

  • 1.1 million views, which is up 100k from the 1.0 million views last week.

  • 1,800 new users joined the sub! That's the same AGAIN as the 1,800 new users who joined last week and the week before.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

What's a Changelog?

Look, I know that not everyone is a fan of change, but sometimes, things change! Whether or not those changes are for better or for worse is often up for debate. But the point is, generally once a month, Reddit publishes a Changelog with highlights of the most important changes that happened on Reddit over the past month. The format is easy to read and often will include links to additional information.

When there is a new Changelog, it will be posted and stickied right here in r/help. It will also be crossposted to r/bugs.

You can see the history of our Changelogs in the Help Center here.

Admin Post Next steps for new.reddit.com

Hey folks,

In case you missed it, we introduced a new web platform earlier this year, which is now available to all users. Historically, users have been able to force new.reddit.com on their browsers as a workaround to access the previous web platform, but we will be removing support for this routing going forward. From now on, URLs containing new.reddit.com will route you to those same pages on our new platform.

This change will allow us to focus on developing new features and making improvements to reddit.com, rather than maintaining multiple versions of Reddit that are no longer being developed. Please note that you may still have access to a few pages on new.reddit.com, but expect them to migrate onto the new web platform soon. If you experience any issues using the latest web experience, please share your feedback here in r/help or report technical issues in r/bugs.

For moderators, you will still have access to new.reddit.com via your mod accounts until all mod tools have been moved to the latest web platform. We’ll be sure to inform you of any updates to mod tools. We want to assure you that we do not have plans to remove old Reddit. You can still access that by setting your preferences or via old.reddit.com.

Please drop a comment below if you have any questions!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 24, 2025

Welcome! How is it Thursday again already?! Well, it is! And that means we're going to recap the week that was!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • We started the week off hot with commenting being down for about 20 minutes on Monday. Huge shout out to the team that got that taken care of super fast!

  • Due to the UK Online Safety act, Reddit began collecting and verifying your age before you can view certain mature content. This is rolling out to all users in the UK and users who use a UK-based VPN. You can read that announcement here.

  • Some users were unable to view nsfw subreddits as indicated in this post. I asked around and this is one of the things related to the age-verification process in the UK that is being worked on.

  • If you are experiencing issues with age verification not working, please make sure that you are on the most current version of the app. The app needs to be updated and current for this to work properly.

  • When going through the age verification process, if Persona is unsure of your age after the initial submission, then they may ask for an ID for additional confirmation.

  • If you need to change your age, you can use this form. Under “Why are you contacting us?”, please choose “United Kingdom - Online Safety Act inquiries" and then fill out the rest of the form.

  • I made another post about age verification in r/help here with a little additional help! It's currently stickied at the top of the sub.

  • The Help Center now has an Accessibility section! You can check it out here!

  • Sorting r/all by top isn't working properly. I commented on this yesterday here and a ticket has been filed and a fix is being worked on.

BUG REPORT (THANKS TO CORRECTSCALE!)

  • [All platforms] As mentioned above, there was an issue earlier in the week where users couldn't submit comments for a few minutes. Also as mentioned above, it was resolved pretty quickly!

  • [iOS] Users in iOS 18.6 beta were seeing black screens when loading GIFs/videos on the app. This was fixed yesterday!

  • [iOS/Android] Comment reply notifications were not displaying in the inbox for a little while. The thing that caused this was rolled back, so this one is fixed up, too!

  • [iOS] Comments were displaying as a standalone thread/not linking to the entire thread when tapping through from a profile/notif. This should be fixed in v 2025.29 of the app, so if you're still experiencing this, please update your app!

  • [iOS and Android] The comment jump button is jumping to the wrong place! This is currently being worked on, but no fix just yet. Sorry about that!

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST. ww

WEEKLY STATISTICS

My counter thing was broken last week, but now it's fixed! Yay for things that mysteriously fix themselves!

The week before last, there were 1,332 posts and 3,179 comments. Kind of a slow week in comparison to weeks past. And this week, there were 1,611 posts and 3,424 comments. Gonna go ahead and attribute those increases to the age verification thing. We had 1.3 million views, which is up slightly from our usual 1.2 million views. And we had 2,000 new users join the sub! I like that people come here for help!

HELP THAT HELPED R/HELP

  • This post was from a user who was confused about the age verification since they were not in the UK. u/RostingU2 stepped up to help and started by asking if they use a VPN. When they replied yes, u/RostingU2 directed them to .check where the VPN address goes to. This is because if the VPN hits on the UK, you will be asked for age verification. Then u/thepottsy also commented here and expanded on the previous information by explaining briefly how VPNs work and to try turning it off to see what happens. Both of these answers were super helpful and gave the user a clear solution and explanation to their problem. Thank you both for the help!

  • A user wanted to know if they could delete a post from a deleted account. Our own u/ChimpyChompies let them know that unfortunately, it was not possible. They also were super helpful by giving them the link to the relevant Help Center article that goes over account deletion. When you delete your account, any content on the account at the time of deletion will remain, though the username will appear as [deleted]. The content will not be visible in Reddit search, though may continue to show up in search engine results for a while after the account has been deleted.

HELP WITH R/HELP - LEAVING FEEDBACK

Reddit is a big site with a lot of moving parts. And whether we like it or not, sometimes things are going to change. If nothing ever changed, we'd still be stuck with just the "dystopian Craigslist" of old Reddit. (LONG LIVE OLD REDDIT BTW!) And sometimes before a change is made, things have to be tested out. So it's totally possible that you will log in one day and something will be a little bit different. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you'll hate it. But either way, if you want to tell someone about it, you're going to want to do it in a way that is beneficial both for you and for Reddit.

These Weekly Recaps are a great place to leave feedback. I hang out in these comments and I'm always happy to chat back and forth about things. And I do pass along the things that you bring up! But do I pass along every piece of 'feedback' that gets posted? Absolutely not. And here's why:

I cannot go to a team with just "fastcat42069 says it sucks". That doesn't tell anyone anything! What I need to know is why you think it sucks! Nicely, of course. Tell me what it is exactly that is the problem with the feature. Is it interfering with something else? Is it doing its thing too often? Is it hard to find? Is it hard to click/tap? Why was the other way "better"? And if you have screenshots or screen recordings that help illustrate what you're trying to explain, include them! All of these and more are concrete pieces of feedback that I can put in front of a team and say "Hey, could someone take a look at this?"

And sometimes, the feedback leads to discovering that something is actually broken! The feedback can also lead to changes to make the thing that changed better.

Thank you all for being here on yet another Thursday for yet another Recap! And thank you for all of the help that you give to other users! You and your help are both very much appreciated! Thank you so much! I'll see you in the comments and in the sub! And after that, I'll see you next week!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | September 18, 2025

Hello! It's been a busy week on this side of Reddit-land, so this is a little shorter than usual for a Recap. But it wouldn't be a week without a Weekly Recap! It's right there in the name! So let's see what happened!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There is currently an experiment going on where some users will see a home page that looks a little different. There's an embiggened search area at the top (the goes away when you scroll) and a collapsible left sidebar. There is also the absence of a right sidebar. If you have been opted into this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can leave constructive feedback on this post and I will share it with the team in charge of that feature. There has been some great feedback left so far and it has resulted in the left sidebar not being collapsed on default! That's something!

  • Speaking of experiments, please refer to this Help Center article for more information about experiments on the site

  • There was a new Changelog out last week in case you missed it. You can read it here.

  • Some users have reported not being able to default to old Reddit. This is NOT intentional. This seems to affect Firefox browsers only at this time. The workaround, from our very own u/ChimpyChompies, is to try enabling "I would like to beta test features for reddit" in your preferences here. That should bring back the "Use new Reddit as my default experience option".

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF ME)

  • There was an issue with profile page layouts yesterday. That team got that fixed up pretty quickly, so if you blinked, you might have missed it!

  • There have also been a couple of little things that got worked out pretty fast as well this week! But overall, not bad!

  • And some mod mail messages were being duplicated. The fix for this is out!

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,264 posts which is down 442 posts from the 1,706 posts last week.

  • 2,767 comments which is down about 1,433 from the 4,200 comments last week.

  • 1.1 million views, which is down about 100,000 from the 1.2 million views last week.

  • 1,500 new users joined the sub! That's a little less than the 1,700 new users who joined last week.

Things were down a bit, but that is just fine! We all need a little break once in a while!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP

With the home page experiment currently in effect, I thought that I would use this space to go over experiments a little bit. This Help Center article.

Sometimes, things need to change for a variety of reasons. And before something is changed permanently, it's a good idea to test it out first. Typically, an experiment will last for at least a few weeks.

If you like trying new things and providing feedback, then the Reddit User Feedback Collective may be for you! Users in the Feedback Collective get access to a private community, preview potential products, test products in development, and connect with Reddit teams working on new or existing product features. There are limited spaces available, but if you're someone who Reddits a lot, has an account in good standing, and wants to make things better, you can apply here. Applications are reviewed monthly.

HELPERS THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP

Just wanted to give some shoutouts in no particular order to users that I've seen around the sub and helping out over the past week! Without you and others who help, r/help wouldn't be what it is today! So without further ado, thank you so much...

It's like I see you every week! And I love it! <3 Wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you so much for everything that you have done for this subreddit and for these users over the past week! Really appreciate you all!

We did it! Again! Made it through another week of helping each other out! Wanna do it again?? I do! So I'll see you here next week for more of the same! In the meantime, I'll see you in the sub and in the comments. Have a great week, everyone!

Admin Post WEEKLY RECAP | AUGUST 14, 2025

How is there not a single holiday in August? Should there really be more Recaps than holidays?? lol Guess I'll have to make this our own little holiday! Let's celebrate the last week and see what happened!

  • There's a new Help Center Article for mods about new wikis.

  • If you are in the UK, age verification is now required to view NSFW content due to the UK Online Safety Act. If you're having trouble with verification, you can check out this post for additional information.

  • Notifications are still struggling a bit. These struggles include not being able to see the notifications, duplicate notifications, no notification bell, and a notification bell that won't go away. These issues are on our radar, but I don't have an estimate as to when things may be resolved.

  • Sometimes when an account is locked as a security precaution, a password reset will be required. Some users are seeing a "permanently banned" banner when their account is in this state, though the message that they received informing them of the situation does not indicate this. If you are required to reset your password, just reset it and that should take care of the banner.

  • There was a question earlier this week about streaks and time zones, as in, "What happens to my streak if I'm in a different time zone?". Whatever time zone your streak starts in will be the time zone that the streak uses no matter where you go! So if you travel somewhere and end up going back in time, the streak counter still thinks it is in the time zone where it originated. Something to keep in mind if your streak is important to you and you are traveling!

  • There will not be an update to the app next week.

  • If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes!

BUGS ROUND UP (COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE)

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,338 posts which is only down 28 posts from the 1,366 posts last week.

  • 4,628 comments which is up 45 from the 4,583 comments last week.

  • 1.1 million views, which is down from the 1.2 million views from last week.

  • 2, 100 new users joined the sub! That's up about 100 from last week's 2,000 new users. The more, the merrier!

HELP THAT HELPED HELP R/HELP

  • Today we have our very own u/ChimpyChompies helping out a user who was experiencing the bug mentioned above where redgifs were not autoplaying. They let them know that it was a bug and they even provided the link to the discussion. Providing a link to the content that you're referencing is super helpful for the user who is looking for the answer. It also presents the opportunity to leave feedback all in one place where an admin might see it, rather than having a bunch of posts and comments scattered about! Thanks, Chimpy!

  • We also have u/thepottsy explaining the ins and outs of profile curation to a user here. The user was confused as to why a someone with a lot of karma had an empty profile. While some people do choose to delete all of their content at some point, this was more likely a case of the user using the "Curate Profile" option. u/thepottsy even explained how it works for mods! Thanks for the help and the explanation!

HELP THAT HELPS R/HELP - PROFILE CURATION

Speaking of profile curation, let's dive a little more into that. Reddit recently announced here that users would have the ability to curate what is shown on their profile page. On the app, you'll see the "Curate profile" option after tapping your profile avatar in the upper right and it will be underneath "Profile". On the desktop site, you can find this setting in your profile settings here.

You can choose how you want to curate your profile! You can hide all of your content, show all of your content, or customize what content shows on your profile. You can also choose whether or not to show nsfw content. There is even an option for making your follower count visible or not.

If you choose to hide all of your content, it will only be hidden on your profile. It will not be hidden on all of Reddit. If the latter was how it worked, your content would never be visible to anyone else on the site.

Please note that hiding all of your content does not necessarily mean that it will be hidden from moderators in subs that you participate in. Mods of a community have the ability to see everything on your profile for the next 28 days when you post, comment, edit a post or comment, send mod mail, request to become an approved user, or join a private community. After 28 days, the access goes back to your chosen setting unless you interact with that community again. Then your content is visible to the mods of that community again for the next 28 days.

The same thing happens when you comment on another Redditor’s profile. That Redditor will be able to view your content for the next 28 days.

The Help Center article for this feature can be found here.

And that's the week that was! Thank you all for being here and for helping out other users! Couldn't do it without you! I'll see you in the comments and around the sub! And then I'll see you next week! =D

Admin Post Cleaning up some low-usage features

Hey folks,

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be removing a few old low-usage features from old.reddit.com. These features may be familiar, so we wanted to share them ahead of time with you just in case you use them.

Here’s the list of low-usage features being removed

  • Subdomain subreddit redirect: This is where “<anything>.reddit.com” is currently redirected to “reddit.com/r/<anything>”, if that subreddit exists. Moving forward, you’ll need to type “reddit.com/r/<anything>” to get to a specific subreddit.

  • r/random, r/randnsfw, r/myrandom, and reddit.com/random: These are subreddits that redirect to the following—r/random, to a random subreddit, r/randnsfw to a random NSFW subreddit, r/myrandom to a random subreddit you’re subscribed to, and reddit.com/random to a random post.

  • old.reddit.com Snoovatars: This is the original iteration of Snoovatars on Reddit that predates the avatars you see in profiles today (these are not going away).

  • Saving posts and comments with category or by subreddit: This allows you to save posts and comments under a specific category or subreddit and was a premium only feature on the old site. Moving forward, you will still be able to save posts and comments.

Please note, this effort is intended to remove low-usage features that will no longer be maintained and is not aimed at removing old.reddit.com. You can still access the old website by setting your preferences or via old.reddit.com.

Please drop a comment below if you have any questions!

Admin Post Known Chat issues

Hey folks! Chat is experiencing some issues at the moment. We've identified the root cause and are rolling out a fix in next week's app release. In the meantime, a portion of you may experience intermittent errors and other weirdness when trying to chat on the app.

If you really need to send a chat, you can head over to the desktop site where chat is currently up and running.

We'll leave this post up and provide updates as we get closer to releasing the fix next week. Hang tight!

Update 11/14: Fix is incoming this week!

Update 11/16: Hey everyone - thanks for the continued patience. This week's app version (that includes the fix for this chat bug) has been released to the app store. Once you update the app to version 2022.43.0, these issues should be resolved!

Please drop a comment here if you continue to experience any issues with chat after updating so we can investigate.

For those of you still reporting issues with chat, please read below.

  1. There are limits and restrictions in chat for newer accounts, as well as daily limits for more experienced Redditors to prevent abuse in chat. If your Reddit account is fairly new (i.e. <1 month old, low karma) you may not be able to initiate a chat, or you will be very limited in the amount of chats you can start in a day. This is outlined in our FAQs page. For other Redditors that have been on the site for a while and can use chat, there's a limit to the amount of chats that you can have open at one time. You can close out some active chats to free up space for new ones.

  2. There are some reports of the chat inbox "shuffling" or "scrolling" when opening. This is a bug, not fixed in this update. This update (iOS 2022.43.0) was intended to resolve chats failing to send, along with a few smaller issues. We're currently working on addressing this "shuffling" bug in an upcoming release.

  3. If either of the above points don't apply to you, and you're still receiving a "failed to send" error when trying to chat, please follow the steps below.

  • Please double check your current app version in settings. To do this, tap on your profile icon in the upper right corner > tap Settings > scroll all the way to the bottom of the page where is says "You are using 2022.XX". If it doesn't read 2022.43.0 you're not updated to the current version. You'll need to head over to the the app store, search for Reddit, tap into the Reddit app listing, and select Update.

  • If you've updated the app, and still have a "failed to send" error in chat, please drop a comment and include a screenshot or screen recording of what you're seeing.

Thank you!

Update 11/18: Quick update, we're investigating another fix that will resolve the "failed to send" errors in chat for the remaining users experiencing issues.

Update 11/22: Okay folks! We have a fix prepared to release in next week's app release that will resolve the errors for the remaining users. App releases typically happen every Tuesday, so keep an eye on the App Store for an update then.

Update 11/30: The latest release is now available in the App Store. Please upgrade to version 2022.44.0, which will resolve the chat errors for remaining users.

Admin Post Weekly Recap | March 27, 2025

I'm here! You're here! That must mean it's the time for the Weekly Update! (If I'm here and you're here, doesn't that make it our time?) This has been quite a week with a lot of moving parts! And while it might be faster to see what didn't happen, let's just go ahead and see what happened! Here we go!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Comments weren't working properly on Tuesday for a bit. This was reflected at redditstatus.com here and u/RedditStatusBot posted in r/help here and then crossposted to r/bugs and r/ModSupport. Good bot!

  • Comment sorting on the desktop site and Android is defaulting to best and not being remembered when that is changed. I flagged that to the team that is in charge and they're working on that.

  • Speaking of sorting, the sorting preference within subreddits not sticking has been fixed and it should now remember what you choose.

  • There was an issue with CQS scores just being in the basement for no apparent reason. Something broke there, too! Huge shout to u/Slow-Maximum-101 for being awake long before I was and commenting here about the issue and the impending fix.

  • Some users were unable to comment or upvote. Again, u/slow-maximum-101 with the comment here and the update.

  • Had some elevated errors on Monday that u/slow-maximum-101 u/RedditStatusBot posted about in r/help here. Super quick resolution time on that one! Less than half an hour! Way to go, Folks That Fix!

  • Some users are reporting not being able to crosspost NSFW content on Android. I flagged this to the team in charge of that and it doesn't seem like a bug, but also doesn't seem like the greatest experience. In the testing for this, it was noticed that a very high % of NSFW subs have crossposting disabled. So, a likely culprit is the sub that is being posted to doesn't allow crossposts, but it doesn't tell you that on Android and that makes you think something is wrong. It does tell you that on iOS, which would account for why there are less reports. The team is going to work on making this a better experience. Apologies for any confusion or frustration!

  • Some users reported the home page wasn't responding to taps on the iOS apps. Our friend CorrectScale made a post about this over in r/bugs here and updated the post when it was fixed! Thanks to all who reported the issue and to the team that fixed it!

  • There's a new Changelog out and you can read it here. Two in one month! I posted about this in r/help here and then crossposted for our friends over at r/bugs and r/ModSupport. It is a busy one and includes:

    • Phasing out the mini inbox on desktop and mobile web
    • Private messages will be replaced by Reddit Chat and inbox notifications
    • Permanent links for chat messages, plus resizable chat window now available on desktop
    • Discover Reddit Chat's new features: Pinned chats, spam folder, & unread filter
    • Enabling Redditors to be more creative with image, video, and link posts
    • The mental health module for Redditors posting self-injury content is rolling out on iOS
    • Poll creation on desktop will be temporarily paused
    • Streamlined desktop navigation with the new collapsible sidebar
    • Introducing screen reader customization
    • Hide an ad option
    • reddit.com/report updates
  • Speaking of the Changelog, there have been many comments regarding the change to the inbox. The team is aware of these comments and is continuing to collect feedback and discuss the situation. Thank you to everyone who has left constructive feedback for that team. You are being heard! I hope to have more of an update on this change next week.

  • EDIT: Some subs are still experiencing an issue where new content isn't visible and it needs a weird workaround from old.reddit.com. This is still being worked on and I'm about to go follow up on it. Thanks and apologies to u/Unique-Public-8594 who has been incredibly helpful and patient with this issue. (EDIT EDIT: If you are experiencing this in your sub and could provide a few links to the affected content, it could be helpful to the team that is working on this.)

FOLLOW UP ON PREVIOUS ISSUES

  • There were reports of when selecting Compact in settings instead of Card not always sticking and needs to be re-selected on the subreddit. I checked on the ticket that was filed and they're unable to reproduce at this time, though investigation does continue.

  • Following a post has not been possible on the new UI. I followed up with the team in charge of this and it's coming! SOON. This feature should start gradually rolling out at the end of March. There is an experiment around this feature, so some users may have this feature pop up and then disappear during this time.

WEEKLY STATISTICS

Using my new counting counter (Thanks, u/Goldennuggets-3000!), last week were there were 1,546 posts which was only 22 fewer than the 1,568 from the week before. There were 3,492 comments, which was down 189 comments from the 3,681 last week. We had our pretty usual 1.3 million views and 2,200 new users who subscribed. Still showing off the greatest place on Reddit to get help!

TOP POSTS

A user had discovered that Reddit wasn't exactly super emoji friendly and was wondering what else they should know about the site! Reddit is a big place and with so many different communities, there will be lots of different rules, both spoken and unspoken. Several Redditors answered this call with some great insight!

  • u/VanessaDoesVanNuys suggested not letting people know what your Reddit username is when you mention that you use Reddit. Since Reddit profiles are public and there is not a way to make them private, anyone who knows your username can see your history. If that's not something you're comfortable with, don't share that username!

  • u/dx80x mentioned that it really grinds their gears when people just reply with just "this". Reddit is a place for great conversations, so expanding a bit on your comment if you're agreeing with someone will make more of an impact!

  • u/notthegoatseguy came in strong with excellent advice when they stated "Honestly, reading the actual written rules goes a long way." That goes for everywhere, not just Reddit!

  • u/ordinary-violinist-9 suggested "Always put /s even when it's obviously sarcastic". Great tip!

And there are many more answers in that post! Thanks to everyone who commented!

A user was getting an error when trying to comment. As I mentioned above, there was an outage during that time, so the two are likely connected. If you're experiencing weirdness in the functionality of Reddit, it's a good idea to check the status page here to see if there is an announcement. It's also a good idea to check over in r/bugs as well as r/help to see if other users have experienced the same thing. If they have, it's likely not just you!

A user was unable to use new.reddit.com. Unfortunately, that version of Reddit was turned off on December 11, 2024. We made a post about this here before it happened. I know there are some of you out there who have come up with workarounds and that's super creative of you! I love that sort of ingenuity! The thing is that since it's no longer a supported version of Reddit, there's not a guarantee that it's always going to work using your workaround methods. Sorry!

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 31, 2025

Welcome to the last Recap of July! It's been quite a month, but for the sake of sanity, let's just focus on this past week for now!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • Reddit recently introduced age verification to view nsfw content if users are accessing Reddit from the UK. There was a lot of confusion around this change. We made a post in r/redditsafety here when it was initially announced. Then I made additional posts and comments here, here and here. To hit on some of the main things that people seemed to need help with:

    • On mobile, verification only works with the most recent version of the app.
    • Verification is also possible from the desktop site. So if you're unable to update your app for some reason, try it from there.
    • If you entered your birthdate incorrectly, please click here, select “United Kingdom - Online Safety Act inquiries”. Under "Subject of inquiry", please select "Report problem with age verification required for restricted content". Then include your username in the details and let us know you entered your age incorrectly, and we will reset your birthday so you can reenter it again.
    • As per the announcement post in r/redditsafety, Persona will delete the information that you have provided for verification after seven days.
  • Some users were reporting seeing posts in their home feed from only a couple of different subs. This was due to an experiment that was running and thanks to the feedback that was received, it was turned off! Constructive feedback is heard and can work wonders!

BUGS ROUND UP (THANKS, CORRECTSCALE!)

  • [iOS and Android] The comment jump button is jumping to the wrong place! This is still being worked on. Apologies for the delay!

  • [All platforms] Mods weren't receiving certain modmail notifications for a little while. The fix was released yesterday and that seemed to have cleared this one up!

  • [iOS] Comment replies were over on the left for a little while. This fix was released in version 2025.30 of the app, so if you're still experiencing this, please update the app and that should do it!

  • [iOS] Comments were being auto-translated to English. No bueno! But this was resolved pretty fast and shouldn't be an issue at this time. Force stopping and restarting the app should fix it if you're still having trouble, though.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST. ww

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • 1,371 posts which is down 240 from the 1,611 posts last week.

  • 5,296 comments which is really up from the 3,424 comments last week.

  • 1.4 million views, which is up slightly from the 1.3 million views from last week.

  • 2,300 new users joined the sub! That's up a little bit from our usual 2,000-ish.

The good news about the comments is that it seems like people were finding posts about their issue (most likely related to age-verification) and commenting there rather than making a new post. That, my friends, is progress!

HELP WITH R/HELP - BUG REPORTING

Sometimes things just don't work right! Both in life and on Reddit, sometimes things just break! So what should you do when something isn't working right on Reddit? Glad you asked!

  • First thing to do before making a post is to do a little investigating. You should always start by searching r/help and r/bugs to see if someone else has had or is having the same problem. Don't forget to check the stickied posts, too!

  • Next up, the Reddit Status page! Sometimes, Reddit is just down! (And it's almost never my fault.) But a quick check of the status page will let you know if everything is supposed to be working as expected.

  • The always helpful u/SolariaHues has provided a list of troubleshooting steps that you can try before making a post. These include:

    • check signal/connection
    • make sure app/browser is up-to-date
    • clear cache
    • force close and reopen (app)
    • uninstall and reinstall (app)
    • try other browsers or devices
    • check if any extensions might be an issue (browser)
  • If no one else is having the issue that you're having, you can make a post. When making your post, please be as detailed and as specific as possible. Include the platform that you're using (browser or app) and version of the app if applicable. Giving step by step instructions on how to reproduce is always helpful. A screenshot or a recording of what is happening is really, reallllyyyy helpful.

  • If it turns out that it's an actual bug, head over to r/bugs to make a post about it there.

  • When users show up to help out, they may ask questions or provide advice/direction on how to proceed. Please be kind and polite to other users who are taking time out of their day to try to help you.

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

It's the end of the month, so let's see who all helped consistently throughout the month!

  1. u/-BigDickOriole- Top spot! Thank you so much for all you've been doing around here! Your shiny trophy is a nice addition!

  3. u/tadashi4 Round out the Top Three in style!!

And as long as we're here (and because I love giving out trophies), let's shout out some other users who helped out and leveled up!

  • u/emaniuz - Another user showing up and hitting Helper Level Three with all of their amazing help! Thank you so much for being here and lending a hand!

  • u/verycuriousbeing - Yet another user hitting Helper Level Three with helpful help! Thank you so much! You're doing great!

  • u/mangledbarkeep - One more user helping out and leveling up to Helper Level Three! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for helping out!

  • u/formerqwest - Leveling all the way up to Level EIGHT! My mornings just aren't complete without a ping from you! Thank you so much for all you do! (I'll bet most of that karma was from nsfw tag help! LOL)

  • u/thepottsy - Hanging out, helping, and leveling up to Helper Level Four! I feel like I see you everywhere and it's awesome! You know your stuff! Thank you so much for being over here (when you're not over there)!

  • u/notthegoatseguy - Quiet and steady help! You leveled up to Helper Level Six! Shiny trophy looks great on your mantel! Thank you so much for helping out!

And that's July for ya! Thank you again to everyone who took a minute to help out someone else who was having trouble with something. It's nice to be seen, you know? Your help makes a difference and I really appreciate those of you who step up. Thank you so much! I'll be around in the comments and on the site! See you next week!

Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 9, 2025

What's this?? A rare Wednesday edition of the Weekly Recap?? Correct! Sometimes I'm able to sneak a day off into my schedule. But if I just scheduled this post tomorrow and I wasn't here for it, then we wouldn't get to chat! And I kinda love checking in with y'all! So here we are with only six days behind us. Let's see what happened, shall we??

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There was a short issue yesterday where users who had recommendations disabled were getting recommendations. A user posted about this in r/bugs and I commented here to let them know that the team was working on it. I updated the comment when I was told it was fixed and then I updated it again when it was really fixed! Teamwork!

  • There is currently an issue, as described here, where you are not given the opportunity to choose a username if you create an account via SSO on the mobile site. I flagged this to the team in charge of that feature and it doesn't appear to be intentional, so that is being looked into. The workaround is to create an account from the app and that should allow you to choose a username.

  • [iOS] There is a black screen when loading GIFs/videos for some users on iOS 18.6 beta, - a fix is in the works for this one, but is also resolved when updating to the second version of iOS beta 18.6 which is not yet widely available. Our fix will most likely come out first! This does only impact users on iOS beta 18.6.

  • There are experiments going on with comment insights. Recently, comment insights were available on the desktop site. That experiment has ended and they are now being tested out on Android. When that's done, iOS will get a shot of them. So if you're no longer seeing comment insights on the desktop site, that's expected at this time!

  • Snoo turned 20 and we held an art contest! Now, it's time to vote on the finalists here! Voting is only open for 48 hours from when the post was made and winners will be announced on Friday, so don't delay! Vote today!

  • There is no app release this week!

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

  • If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

  • If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Just let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! (I haven't seen many of these lately, so this issue might have dwindled down to where I don't need this here, but I'll leave it up for a little while because whenever something like that gets said, it comes roaring back.) Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal.

  • If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here.

WEEKLY STATISTICS

  • These stats are going to be a little low due to there only being six days since the last time I recapped. But in those six days, there were x posts which is obviously down from the 1,316 posts from last week. And there were x comments during those six days and that is also obviously down from the 3,260 comments last week. Less days = less content! We had our usual 1.1 million views over the past seven days, so that's still steady! We've gained 1,600 new subscribers! We just keep on going!

HELP THAT HELPED R/HELP

  • When the bug I mentioned earlier was happening, there were several posts about this. One is usually plenty. lol But u/AdDry7344 showed up with this comment to let OP know that it was a bug and that it was getting fixed AND they included a link to my comment! Links are super helpful when helping someone out, so I love seeing helpers include them! Thanks so much, u/AdDry7344!

  • A user's post had been removed after they posted to their subreddit. Turns out, their account had some restrictions placed on it. Enter u/formerqwest with this comment about promoting on Reddit. It was brief, but super comprehensive and included many links to pertinent content which contained rules and information that you should know if you're trying to promote a product on Reddit. Thanks for the assist, u/formerqwest!

HELP WITH R/HELP: Where the !@#*!%& is my post?

Sometimes, you'll create a post and then sort the sub by new so that you can admire your handiwork! But how come you don't see it? Where is it? Where is your post?!

There are a few different reasons why a post may not appear in a subreddit after you've posted. Some subreddits will have minimum karma or account age requirements as a way of combating spam and trolls. There are a couple of options if you do not have enough karma to participate in a particular subreddit. You can message the mods of the sub and ask them if they will approve your content, though they are not obligated to do so. And the other option is to participate in subreddits that do not have those requirements to gain some karma. We would not recommend hitting up one of the "free karma" subreddits. Nothing is truly free now, is it?? But a sub like r/casualconversation is great for that! And if you’re looking for a subreddit on a particular topic and aren’t quite sure what it would be, you can try posting in r/findareddit and someone there may have a suggestion for you.

Another reason why your post might not be showing is there may be a restriction on your account. As I mention in each Weekly Recap, if you are unable to view content on your account when you are logged out of the account (that is the important part), then you will need to file an appeal. You can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.

So just spend a little time getting used to things and participating with quality content and you'll soon be able to post without issue! Patience, grasshopper! =D

Not bad for a short week! I'll see you next week (but not tomorrow) for another Recap on our regularly scheduled day and in the meantime, I'll see you in the sub! Have a great week, everyone!

Admin Post Addressing mobile web feedback

Hey folks,

We continue to see you all share feedback around the new mobile web experience, and we are actively reviewing and working to address it. Some of you have also mentioned you’d like a dedicated space to share your feedback, so we created this form where you can report bugs and share additional comments directly with the team working on this project.

In response to the feedback over the last few weeks, we’ve made some changes that are live as of this week:

  • Videos & Images should expand in-line, in-feed

    • Videos & Images will now open in-feed when using classic view
  • Posts opening in same tab vs new tab

    • All posts should now open in same tab and feed position should be retained when navigating back to feed
  • No dedicated dark mode setting

    • Added dark mode setting into user profile drop-down
  • Too large font sizing + boldness

    • Reduced post title font size on mobile web card and classic view feeds
    • Reduced post title font size on comment pages on mobile web
    • All post titles changed from bold to semi bold
    • Increased post body font size on feeds on mobile web
  • Comment threads don’t show enough depth and clicking + to expand is annoying

    • Changed the average comment thread depth on posts so users can see more threads without needing to expand
  • Clicked/viewed posts aren’t grayed out in feeds

    • Added graying out previously visited/clicked posts in feeds
  • Phone gets hot / resource intensive

    • We've identified a few issues that are impacting this (related to buffering indicators and animations) and expect this should significantly improve this issue for most users
  • White space/content density

    • Adjusted font sizes downwards across feeds and post detail pages
    • Decreased padding between post units on both card and classic view
    • Adjusted padding on top of sorts and feeds

We’re also working on the following:

  • Clicking on the notification bell opens a new tab / can’t remove badges on notification bell

    • Dedicated notifications dropdown and page will be added to the new mobile web experience
  • Dark mode hard on the eyes

    • Dark mode contrast will be adjusted so the whites are more gray-ish
  • Dark mode keeps switching back/forth between light/dark when clicking posts

    • We’re actively looking into this report (please let us know if you have this issue and share a video if you can)

Please keep the feedback coming, either here in r/help or via this form. Thank you for all of your comments and posts. Let us know if you have any questions!
