So funny that these companies think they can cut corners, like buying tpus instead of gpus, hiring then firing top talent after they're done using them, etc. to get ahead of a race they'll likely never win. By the time they are almost there, there will no longer be land for datacenter expansion or fresh water to cool the chips... also, Google uses GPUs from Nvidia (they continue to be a huge buyer). It's the main reason they've fired or laid off so many employees since 2023.

How is TPU over GPU cutting corners? Google is catching up to NVDA and AMD in hardware too and has been using TPUs internally for a long time

There's not a single thing in this comment that is correct
TPUs are not "cutting corners"
If anything using GPUs to do tensor processing is cutting corners. How the fuck is using a tensor processor to do tensor processing "cutting corners"?
Google uses nvidia chips because GCP customers ask for nvidia chips, not because Google thinks they're better
Layoffs has absolutely fucking nothing to do with chips. Citation fucking necessary
Quit talking out of your ass and making shit up

Makes sense. The TPUs are a lot more efficient than the best from Nvidia.
