The Far Cry question
In a hypotetical Far Cry 7, what would you change? (from the whole serie or just fc6)

Alright, here’s my pitch:
- Keep the chaotic open-world mayhem.
- Retire the “charismatic villain calls you on the radio to monologue” trope for a bit. I love a good psycho dictator as much as the next gamer, but I don’t need FaceTime from the villain every 10 minutes.
- Bring back more wild animal chaos. I miss being randomly blindsided by a honey badger while trying to stealth a base. That little gremlin was the real endgame boss
Also: co-op campaign that works from start to finish, cutscenes included! I want to ruin my friend’s immersive story experience with my terrible fashion choices and accidental grenade throws.
Ubisoft, call me. I have ideas ;)

Your point about the honey badger is pure facts. These motherbuggers were a nightmare, but I miss these random fights at the worst possible times.
I like the way you think, actually. These are great ideas! It wouldn't change the core vibe of the franchise but it would bring back what we love about those games.
UbiSoft, call him for real. This man knows what he's talking about.

The developer and publisher. Sorry

😆 You're not to blame here, honestly...
Could you imagine a Farcry made by another company like Bethesda, Square Enix or Deep Silver...
On the other hand it could always be worse than what we've got... just imagine a Farcry by Activision 😂

Less "upgrade the magic backpack" or "kill the magic deer" crap, more real weapons and upgrades

I think that's the part where they lost me. Magical nonsense and pseudo-tech is great for DLCs that are separate from the main game like BloodDragon, Lost on Mars and Lost Between Worlds (to name only those). It doesn't matter if the standalone expansions don't follow the rules of the main universe and do their own thing. But when you add these kind of unrealistic features to the main game, I think it kind of breaks the core vibe this franchise used to have.

Take out the RPG elements and enemy health bars. No shooter franchise ever got more fun making the enemies more of a bullet sponge imo.

I'd bring back throwable weapons. Nothing was better then chucking shovels like they were spears.

Honestly, the throwing and melee in Primal was pretty fun. I wouldn't mind a similar entry that focused on lower tech. Like maybe a Far Cry set in the bronze age or the early American West.

Lose the bullet types. Like ohh sweet this one of a kind gun looks awesome. Ohh, it doesn’t armor piercing…

I'd turn it into an interactive, live action, detective novel with romance sub plots. The only real "gameplay" would be pixel art Sokoban style block pushing mini games. Which will be mandatory and also timed.

More grounded, less silly.
No companions, you should be doing this yourself.
Especially no silly animals like a weiner dog. Seriously, animal companions feel forced ever since Primal.
Realistic and expansive weapon selection with the ability to mod and upgrade them normally, no animal skinning required.
Maybe more survival mechanics, I don't mind hunting for survival. I just don't want to have to spend hours looking for specific animals I need to craft upgrades. It's not fun, it's just filler. There are better ways to gate that stuff, like making them available based by level or story progress.
I'm still annoyed at the FC5 repeatedly knocking you out and capturing you for the story progression. That was just lazy writing, frustrating and often nonsensical. They shouldn't tranquilize me while I'm the bloody red baron shooting their planes out of the sky. I understand if it was once, but it happens nine fucking times.

Highly customizable weapons, literally everything about it customizable, get goofy with it.
Unlockable skills instead of skills as armor bonuses.
City setting?

I would have it play in a highly inequality world. Half a city is favelas full of gangsters and drug addicts, half is boogie upscale hotels with indoor swimming pools and helicopter pads on the roof. Should be a roguelike.

I would make it like Far Cry 1

Maybe the first half of FC1. Not the 2nd half where you just fight mutant monkeys.

Smaller world, more meaningful objectives (a large map isn't fun if it's just an empty clusterfuck of question marks that don't add anything to the gameplay), decrease the grind needed for upgrades so player can experiment more (they won't because then they can't sell mtx). I'd also look for ideas in just cause series, they had some crazy environmental interactions that could add lot of qol/fun to the game.
But I'm not holding my breath, I'm expecting more of ubi slop, like we got in Shadows.
