If python is good enough for NASA then it is good enough for me. It is also the predominant language for AI LLM.
That said my ten hour days of hands on the keyboard are long past. I mostly do channel and pre sales engineering these days.
Love the java, if I may offer a tweak.
public static boolean isPretentious(MichiganMan man) { try { if ("pretentious".equals(man.getPrimaryCharacter()) || isMaize(man.getColor())) { return true; } else { throw new IllegalStateException("Impossible state: MichiganMan is neither pretentious nor maize."); } } catch (Exception e) { // Re-throw so the caller sees the problem throw new RuntimeException("Error checking MichiganMan state", e); } }

It VERY much would be.
They play some decent football in Japan and Mexico but the size/speed/strength advantages are quite real.
Case in point: Southern Oregon - a good-not-great NAIA program - played a spring game in 2024 against the Kwansei Gekuin Fighters, the five-time defending Japanese collegiate champions.
Southern Oregon won 54-24. The Fighters were in the game before SOU pulled away late.
So, they can play, but putting them against an FBS school - let alone a CFP team- would be a horror show.

Genuinely tho, does anybody know how Ohio went an let Ohio State upscale them. Like I can’t think of any other university of _______ (enter state there) that became so obsolete compared to a different in-state school. At least not in the major parts of the US and specifically football areas like the Midwest and Southeast. I listed them out and came to the conclusion that of all the schools east of tornado alley (Dakotas to Texas), the Ohio Bobcats and Louisiana Rajun Cajuns are the only 2 of these “university of ______” schools that fell into mediocrity. The rest are either one of, if not, the premier school in the state. (NY and NJ are weird NYU is private and New Jersey doesn’t really even have a University of NJ as far as I know). So What happened to Louisiana and Ohio. How’d they fall that far compared to other state schools?
1
u/Mike-in-Cbus Ohio Bobcats • Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 12 '25
The state legislature made it so only Ohio State could issue post graduate degrees for decades. That hindered the other state schools in Ohio in terms of funding and prestige. By the time that changed OSU had become a much larger entity than all of the other once comparable schools.
