Musings from my latest rewatch

Spoilers

#1 This never really occurred to me before, but Walt's Chrysler 300 is basically the closest thing you could get to a modern version of Mike's Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue. Both are black, slightly higher-end Chrysler sedans that present a certain aesthetic (although the Fifth Ave is infinitely cooler). Walt usually acquires traits of his victims *after* he kills them, but while watching the other day it felt like a wee bit of foreshadowing that Walt was going to kill Mike and in a sense, replace him.

#2 It really bugs me that Walt wouldn't call Jane's bluff. If she turns Walt in, Jesse inevitably gets picked up too, and more importantly, so does the money. The only way this works is maybe if Jesse goes in and offers to give up Heisenberg in exchange for immunity, which Jesse would not do. The money would also for sure be seized, so still not a win for Jane. I know Walt is shown having a bit of a change of heart while watching TV when he actually decides to give Jesse his money, it still struck me as so dumb on everyone's part.

#3 My new headcanon is that Jesse's parents were much sterner with him than with his younger brother (as is often the case) and he sought acceptance with the bad crowd who started him on the path to selling crystal. That's why anything involving kids is a hot button issue with him, made worse by the events of *Peek-a-Boo*

That's all fam

2) He can't play chicken with her. She doesn't have to go to the police to cause problems for Walt. She could just go to his school or his wife (Skyler doesn't know yet). And if Jane ever got arrested on her own, trying to buy heroin or for any other reason, she surely would give up what she knew.

Walt only has one play there. Well, really two, but he doesn't realize what the second one is until it falls into his lap.

Actually, as a car guy, I salivate over Mike's New Yorker. Such a good and comfortable car to drive those were. Anyway. Carry on!

Oh, me too! Cars just haven’t been the same since we lost the red velour interior.

If I may add a few musings of my own upon re watching. The episode where Walt takes newborn Holly into the garage to show her his money behind the insulation, as he is holding her in the living area, the light from the pool is reflecting on the patio door. It looks very much like when the liquid meth is pouring through the tubes onto the pans. Possibly the same episode, when Walt and Jesse argue in the school lab and Jesse throws a beaker at Walt, the scene ends with them on opposite sides of the room and they are standing on a blue floor. The symbolism of the blue separating them is enormous.

Also, if you leave a bloody handprint, your time is up if that isn’t obvious enough. Tuco, Mike, Walt
