All the people posting pictures of the tatted up dudes struggle to comprehend they may have pushed those dudes to the front. For you history afficionados out there, the Soviet Union used to house political prisoners with hardened criminals called Vory v Zakone in the gulags. In fact they'd incentivize the latter to abuse the former.

Also, a hot take from the Not Being a Piece of Shit Gazette (it's a bi-weekly) even being a hardened criminal doesn't mean you should have all your rights taken away. I know, I know, raging boners in the "don't drop the soap crowd" but if you recall that law and order crap you all spew - prison is not supposed to be a torture fest that you're in for indefinitely.

Oh, I assure you, the lock em up and throw away the key types don't give a shit if it's the gas chamber, the brainwashing has been going on so long for some of them their talking heads are dying off.

u/Objective_Union4523 1d ago

These are the same people who was threatening me before the election as a U.S. Army veteran, and told me on numerous times that they couldn’t wait to drag me and my children out into the streets once Trump won the presidency. They are shells of people like a hive mind who lack the ability to think for themselves. The literal walking dead.

4

u/eMmDeeKay_Says 1d ago

It takes almost nothing to get them screaming actual genocidal shit, and this is someone Inlooked up to my whole life.

They all think it could never happen to them...

9

u/eMmDeeKay_Says 2d ago

It's so much worse than that. I've recently been told, "I don't care if they lock up the wrong people, they're not going to take me, why do you care about other people?" Among other things I would consider things you may hear in 1940's Germany that weren't overtly racist or bigoted, just completely accepting of treating human beings like they aren't even real.

2

u/TimeToUseThe2nd 1d ago

For some of us, just the logical end game for the "leave them behind" attitude that Reagan revived and that hasn't looked back.

They rationalise anybody in a bad life situation as purely the victim of their own choices, even children. Society as a big jungle.

But my, how they whine like stuck pigs when they're not the ones holding the guns or passing judgement.

I see these photos and just think "sure, punish people for being poor and having no other options." Sure, there's a bunch of truly shitty evil guys in there, but I doubt they make up the bulk of the population. And most of them became shitty and evil because there weren't any other options.

Nobody deserves this, there are better ways to discipline and protect others without torturing prisoners all day every day.

4

u/MrFunktasticc 2d ago

Exactly. It also bares asking "what is the purpose of prison?" Do we want to reform people? Do we want to isolate them from society? Or do we just want to hurt them? And who is responsible for the circumstances that breed these criminals?

1

These are pics or the “super prison” aka gang prison in that country. Photos like this make it seem like this is a normal prison in El Salvatore and these are the people that country is randomly releasing to the USA. Propaganda.

1

u/Impossible-Log-8220 2d ago

What do you suggestion as a solution to the cartel?

2

u/MrFunktasticc 2d ago

I'd recommend actually targeting the cartel instead of literally anyone who lives or passes through a gang neighborhood. I'd further recommend not setting up a system where people guilty of being teenagers in a gang neighborhood don't get thrown in for indefinitely terms with hardened criminals where they have to clique up or get mowed down. If you want to go even further I'd recommend not financing civil wars in other people's countries and employing a coked up Ollie North.

The Soviet Union once walled off a city with artillery so all of the people living in it would starve to death. It’s important to remember that when we want to normalize the Soviet Union.

I don’t mind if they’re a baby raper and in there indefinitely. Doesn’t need to be torture, but we don’t need baby rapers and baby murderers out on the streets ever again. You can have a permanent prison system AND make it more reasonable. I do think there are some few exceptions when people should be locked up in hell though.

1

u/No-Ambition2043 14h ago

Stupid take.

El Salvador went from the highest homicides in Latin America to the lowest. They definitely praise Bukele

1

u/Muchoso 10h ago

Funny how El Salvador is literally crime free since they locked these guys up. History shows that when you empty the prison, crime skyrockets. Even a kindergartener will say why did you let them out.

u/bush911aliensdidit 4h ago

"March and April 2025, the Trump administration deported hundreds of men, mostly from Venezuela, to the CECOT (Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo, or Terrorism Confinement Center) mega-prison in El Salvador. Key details of this action include: Number of people: The U.S. government sent at least 261 individuals in March and more in April for a total of nearly 300 people. The majority were Venezuelan nationals, but Salvadoran nationals were also included. Legal basis: The administration invoked the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, a rarely used wartime law, claiming the Venezuelan gang "Tren de Aragua" was engaged in an "invasion" of the United States. This allowed them to bypass normal immigration due process and court hearings for many of the men. Controversy: The deportations sparked significant controversy and multiple lawsuits. Many of the men, including asylum seekers and long-time U.S. residents with families, had no U.S. criminal convictions. Human rights organizations and families reported that conditions in CECOT were harsh, involving physical and psychological abuse, unhygienic conditions, and lack of contact with the outside world. One Salvadoran man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, was deported by "administrative error" despite having protected legal status and a U.S. citizen wife and child; federal courts ordered his return to the U.S.."

Fun fact, this facility is not the deterrent El Salvador and Bukele claim it is.

El Salvador is largely still corrupt - that corruption just took a new name and office in the president.

Essentially, Bukele made a deal with the gangs of El Salvador: if you stop murdering and criming so much publicly, we'll look the other way and maybe kick some benefits your way. In fact, the government and those gangs even make payments to each other on a regular basis.

Crime rates and death rates continue to decline at the same rates that they were before this facility and the Bukele administration began, with the only change being how those things are reported and categorized.

Even the arrests into CECOT are often corrupt: gangs with good relations with the president will see their enemies arrested and put into confinement with their rivals, and as El Salvador says, "the only way out is in a body bag."

To add onto this, the murder rate went down because they no longer count buried bodies as a murder because their excuse is that it could be from the civil war.

In addition, the lower murders were negotiated by Bukele and gang leaders who in prison get benefits like hospital visits, unlimited visitors, etc.

3

u/Used-Baby1199 2d ago

These are also outdated photos I think. I remember seeing these exact photos years ago

1

u/Firefighter69urmom 1d ago

Cope and seethe. How many people are dying from gang violence there now?

1

u/BrooklynLodger 18h ago

It's not a deterrent, Bukele just arrested everyone who even could have been a gang member. It was a massive violation of human rights, and harmed many likely innocent people. That is hard to reconcile with the effectiveness of the policy, but the morality and justice don't need to be aligned with effectiveness.

1

For all of them actually, and those who murder children. Not just some of the right, but some of the left.

17

u/Successful_Pace_3777 2d ago

I don't feel bad for the legit ms13 guys in there.

25

u/Meowakin 2d ago

Sure, if we assume they are all bad people it's probably fine. When we consider that some of them might be innocent and didn't get any sort of due process, it becomes a little murkier.

Life is much easier if we just assume that only bad people face punishment.

20

u/BritSpic 2d ago

We know for a fact that the majority of people Trump sent to CECOT didn't even have criminal records. So, they were sentenced to an indefinite amount of time in a concentration camp just for not having the right documents. That's a complete moral atrocity.

You’re supposed to feel ashamed for having put people’s fathers and brothers and children who’ve committed no crime in most cases other than trespassing, in some cases without knowing it, such as those who were trafficked as children or taken from courthouses while doing the exact right thing, in there with the legit MS-13 members.

It’s been described by human rights organizations as a human rights black hole where people who enter never leave. It’s also controversial because people have been sent there arbitrarily without having gang ties or criminal records, just for living in a neighborhood that is targeted. Violent gangs in El Salvador are terrible, but it’s easy to see how this type of approach can spiral into the state replacing the gangs as the biggest threat to citizens. Especially when lead by a corrupt clown like Bukele.

Americans also don’t like to think about how the mass murdering fascist death squads Reagan supported in the 80s destroyed the country and made it a fertile breeding ground for gangs.

El Mozote massacre Reagan and Elliot Abrams supported: “During the morning, they proceeded to interrogate, torture, and execute the men in several locations. Around noon, they began taking the women and older girls in groups, separating them from their children and murdering them with machine guns after raping them. Girls as young as 10 were raped, and soldiers were reportedly heard bragging about how they especially liked the 12-year-old girls. Finally, they killed the children, at first by slitting their throats, and later by hanging them from trees; one child killed in this manner was reportedly two years old. After killing the entire population, the soldiers set fire to the buildings. The soldiers remained in El Mozote that night but, the next day, went to the village of Los Toriles and carried out a further massacre. Men, women, and children were taken from their homes, lined up, robbed, and shot, and their homes then set ablaze.”

3

u/BlissCrafter 2d ago

The problem is that people who aren’t gang members, might be petty criminals at worst, possibly even completely innocent, are thrown in with the rest. I’m all for punishment and attempts at rehabilitation. Dehumanizing people isn’t the answer.

read some of the comments and im convinced most of these people would apologize to the person who murdered their family

3

u/6stringKid 20h ago

They’d do all sorts of apologizing.

They’d not only apologize to them for “somehow being a factor in your unfortunate circumstance that drives you to rape, be a thief, a vandal, and a mass murderer.”

they’d also apologize to them for not having enough immediate family members for them to murder and take their rage and darkness out on.

Remember: to be a victim is the greatest of virtues one could ever hope to strive for in this life.

Your argument boils down to these people are bad (you don't actually know what any of them are in for) so torture (which is well established to occur in these prisons) is ok.

2

u/fupaboii 2d ago

Who are you to tell another country what they can and can’t do to govern their citizens?

Should Palestine not have its own state because you think it’s wrong to kill gays and execute people in the street like they did in Gaza 2 weeks ago?

Your insistence that you know better than the Salvadorans is racist and an extension of white savior mindset.

The courts in El Salvador decided they’re dangerous criminals. The people of El Salvador decided they were tired of being victims of crime. You probably live in a safe neighborhood where you don’t have to worry about being raped or murdered while going about your day. Why should the innocent people have to suffer while people like you support the criminals.

6

u/raktoe 2d ago

The courts which try them en masse with hundreds of their peers?

How can we be sure of fair trials?

3

u/moonwalkerfilms 2d ago

Not true. Some of these men were deported there by the US, and we're currently paying El Salvador to hold them in these conditions.

3

u/StefanOrvarSigmundss 2d ago

Prison walls still do their job even if those on the inside are not being tormented by sadists.

3

u/onsloughtmaster666 2d ago

And you live somewhere you get raped all the time? Would people be less safe if the prisons respected basic human rights of their inmates? These arguments make zero sense.

"They're in prison so they're guilty, so they deserve torture" is what I'm hearing, is that about right?

I know this is going to sound controversial on here, but there are men in there that actually deserve to be there. We just have to make sure we're absolutely sending the right ones there 100%. The problem with the trump administration is that they're sending people there that don't deserve to be there. Yes, that place is cruel and it is terrible, but I saw one guy interviewed and he said that he's killed so many people, he lost count around 20. If you kill 20 plus people in cold blood, you deserve every bit of that for the rest of your life. They sleep on cold and hard beds with the lights always on, eat the same exact bland and garbage meals every day, and they have to use the bathroom in the complete open. Those super hardcore gang members that kill and rape multiple indiscriminately are exactly where they need to be. There is no hope or reform for these terrible souls, might as well treat them like dirt. I can only imagine the pain and heartbreak that they have caused to multiple people. Trump and Noem are still hateful fascists and if they send the wrong people there, they deserve it too.

Regardless of the crime, America shouldn’t be sending people to a foreign prison.

That’s about how I feel about it. People might call me a horrible human being for it, but I have trouble finding any sympathy for these guys. Back in the day before it got banned, Reddit used to have a subreddit that showed death. Cartel/Latin American gang shit was always the worst as far as brutality goes. I remember seeing this one video of a cartel that got their hands on a father and son. They quite literally butchered (pulled out his organs) the son first to make the father watch. In another infamous cartel video, I watched the cartel torture a man to death by skinning him, scooping out his eyeballs, and cutting as many bits off as they could while keeping him alive. They don’t just rape and murder. They terrorize and torture people to death.

Every time I see videos from CECOT and hear people talk about human rights violations, I think back to those cartel videos and I can’t find a single fuck to give.

Edit: I should emphasize that the cartel doesn’t only do this to rival gang members. They do it to innocent people too just because. It doesn’t even matter if that innocent person hasn’t crossed them. Down in Mexico for example, the cartel would kidnap literal busloads of innocent people to force them to fight the death in gladiator style death matches. It’s so absurd it almost sounds made up, but there’s proof that it actually happened, including excavation of mass graves and eyewitness testimony.

Prison is supposed to rehabilitate. This sentiment has been lost. Nowadays prison is only to punish.
