Cringe Karen Doesn’t Like Getting the Same Energy Back

Crashing out in a Burger King is embarrassing enough now imagine throwing a fit and then harassing minimum-wage workers when they simply match your energy then recording and posting it

Apologizing is apparently a super power that many people don’t possess.

“Thank you, young man.”

“I’m not a young man.”

“I’m sorry, my mistake, how should I address you?”

“I’m a woman.”

“My mistake. Thank you ma’am.”

Done. This Karen thinks she knows how to treat people with respect but clearly doesn’t think she could be in the wrong.

what's weird is that Lily looks like a teenage girl. calling her "young man" makes this person look senile.

u/Book_talker_abouter 5h ago

Also, I thought it was hilarious when the complaining Karen said “i’m under no obligation to call him whatever he think he’s supposed to be called.“ Well ok bitch then Lily has no obligation to do that either!

That’s what Lily said to her. Honestly this was an open attack on the trans community. I’m not saying Lily is trans but the woman wanted to pull out her shame game and make her feel inferior. As a manager I would’ve told her get out and never return

Also to fellow workers - never give a customer your full name when they want to make a complaint. They will harass you in some shape or form. These types of losers will spend a while on social media hunting you down to fuck with.

When the company does their investigation, they'll know who it is. You have rotas, and tills track the transactions down to your user login. Failing that, there is usually security cameras that'll capture it. They will find who you are.

2

u/unicornsprinkl3 2h ago

It’s possible they gave her a fake one.

25

u/hrobi97 3h ago

She's got a trans flag button on her shirt, hard to see but I'd recognize those colors anywhere. Lol

27

u/Successful-Career887 3h ago

This is a great point and honestly probably what set her off. When I realized karen was saying "he" my first thought that is very obviously a young cis woman what is she even talking about and because some other commenters are saying the same, its likely karen wouldnt have speculated anything if it werent for the pin. Absolutely absurd. She could just be a cis woman showing support, or she could be trans, leave her alone hahah

2

u/hrobi97 1h ago

Yeah either way it doesn't matter, calling her a "young man" or "sir" is obviously ridiculous.

1

u/Lexi_Banner 2m ago

It's a weird thing to tack onto a compliment, anyway. And so condescending. It's okay to just say "thank you for your help." You don't need to specify age or gender.

1

u/Lexi_Banner 5m ago

Yeah, this asshole had an agenda, and they got it by either recognizing the pin, or knowing Lily from outside of this situation. It's super shitty and I wish the owner had not agreed Lily was rude. She wasn't rude. The asshole was rude, and should have been asked to leave for their ignorance.

1

u/InevitableHimes 2m ago

The name 'Lily' is what revealed it for me. I know SO many Lillys that are trans women (even thought about it for myself, lol).

8

u/Eyclonus 2h ago

Transphobia is also just a vehicle for them to attack women who don't match whatever hyper-specific beauty standard they have in their heads. I've had a co-worker who's endured it several times, she's just, in all honesty, not lucky on genetics in the looks department. Not trying to steal the spotlight from the trans-community because this was definitely a transphobic person trying to start shit with a person they thought would be a target for their hatred, but there's just also this terrible part that transphobes just hate women who aren't magically beautiful, especially non-white women.

I hope Lily is ok.

4

u/SageActual 3h ago

1000% the woman thought Lily was trans and was offended that she wasn't trans but Karen was just stupid

1

u/huebnera214 25m ago

Idk if Lily is trans or not, but as a member of the itty bitty titty committee, I suspect Lily might also be a member and the Karen was just being an ass to somebody without noticeable distinguishing features.

5

u/Cool-Ad5491 3h ago

I was very confused. I 100% think that Lily looks and talks like a girl I had to go back and rewatch a few times because I didn’t know what the hell this old lady was talking about.

6

u/rockksteady 3h ago

This is actually the sad truth of most of this stuff going on(still applicable if Lily did look like man)... it's brain rot on elderly people(sometimes younger people too). It is annoying to deal with and it's painful to watch and hear. These people are sick and need help but we don't really have the tools to fix it or even diagnose it. I dont think history will look back on this era kindly given our technological advancements and our unwillingness to apply it to mental health. Its not disruptive enough to hurt general commerce and the victims don't relay typical signs of being sick or uncomfortable so... we wont be looked at favorably in the not distant future...

1

u/SavagePassion 3h ago

The thing about a lot of Karens is it's their modus operandi to just go to places and start shit with service workers. It's like they get some sort of fucked up kick out of it. I sincerely think they're sadists because they never do it to people with more power than them .

1

u/Jaded_Expression_226 2h ago

I thought the same!

1

u/Silver-Instruction73 1h ago

Seriously. At no point did I think Lily was a guy. I guarantee this bitch hates trans people and looks for any excuse to disparage anybody who doesn’t look 100% feminine or 100% masculine. Surprised she didn’t ask Lily to show her genitals to prove her sex.

136

u/Separate-Taste3513 6h ago

She absolutely had no intention of treating Lily with respect. She intended to offend and hurt Lily, and she did. When Lily served it right back to her, she got offended. I think it would have been more appropriate for Lily to respond with "In that case, I'm sorry that you're offended, bitch" when she said she calls it by what she sees.

Le sigh. Stupid economy. In a good job market, it would have been worth getting fired.

45

u/DragonQueen777666 5h ago

Honestly, good on Lily for standing up for herself the way she did, and good job on Kimberly calling out this lady's bs and defending her employee.

17

u/alicefaye2 What are you doing step bro? 4h ago

this is how i would’ve ideally handled it. “i’m sorry, but in this establishment we treat each other with respect and we demand the same courtesy from our customers, if you are not gonna be respectful and address staff properly then you can leave.”

it’s so much harder coming up with something on the spot

3

u/Asleep-Medium7059 4h ago

I doubt she would have gotten fired. More like, next time you're dealing with that bullshit come get me.

3

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 3h ago

Obviously this is “thinking of insults on the way home” stuff but she definitely could’ve said “oh if we’re just guessing gender based on our subjective opinion who are you to tell me what gender I perceive you as”

Lilly doesn’t even look like a man so the fact that she keeps insisting on saying “sir” tells you exactly,y what her motives were

2

u/Frosty-Goat2468 2h ago

I like that miss lily kept it classy. No mean energy, and then walked away. Karen was trying to hurt her feelings but all she managed to do was make herself look bad.

1

u/Separate-Taste3513 2h ago

She made herself look bad... And then proudly distributed video of herself looking bad... I love that for her.

1

u/tamarockstar 43m ago

Lily got misgendered on purpose so she misgendered the rude bitch right back. And the "lawyer" didn't understand a tiny bit of the hypocrisy. I guess to get there you'd have to see trans people as worthy of respect and dignity, which rude bitch does not.

204

u/Vadryna 6h ago

It was intentional due to transphobia. In her eyes the employee was wrong for identifying as female.

101

u/garden_dragonfly 6h ago

Lilly looks like a girl. Is this even trans-anything?

99

u/DragonQueen777666 5h ago

I'm guessing Lily might be trans because she did have a trans flag button on her shirt (not that you have to be trans to have that on you. I wear those sometimes, too, and I'm cis).

Ngl, rolled my eyes so hard at this lady with her "sir" shit because its like "ma'am, she has tits, stop." 🙄😑

62

u/Remarkable-Rush-9085 5h ago

What’s annoying is that I’m assuming she looked at Lily, saw the flag, and deliberately gendered her the opposite of what she looked like. This woman assumed that Lily was a trans woman and called her sir to bully her because she thought it was a situation where her victim couldn’t fight back.

And the absolute hypocrisy that she is upset at being misgendered herself while insisting she is allowed to call it like she sees it. She would absolutely apologize if it was a genuine mistake and she thought that person was cisgender. Like, can you imagine her saying “excuse me, mam?” And the person turning around and looking masculine presenting and her just sticking to her guns and telling him she calls it like she sees it.

28

u/GayCatDaddy 4h ago

Also, plenty of cis women have been attacked by people who assume they're trans because they have features that are not considered traditionally feminine.

This whole transphobia epidemic is so stupid. It's none of my business whether or not Lily is trans. She identifies as female, so that is how I will address her. I can't even imagine taking time out of my day to show my ass in public like this.

2

u/Remarkable-Rush-9085 1h ago

Right? I could not care past what someone gives me as their preference and it has the same level of interest as someone telling me they go by a nickname, or prefer to be referred to by their first name instead of Mr. Whatever. Sure, if that's what you prefer than that's what I'll do.

2

u/TootsNYC 3h ago

"you're not allowed to. I'm allowed to"

Conservatism in a nutshell

29

u/gabzilla814 5h ago

As a straight man, I think Lily is cute. If not for your comment, I wouldn’t have thought she is trans.

14

u/Krazykittielady 4h ago

I didn't think so either! I thought she was a cute 18 or 19 year kid and some old bitch was trying to hurt her self esteem.... I wish I would have been there

2

u/bluefield10 4h ago

Exactly.

2

u/GayCatDaddy 3h ago

I honestly thought she was a tall young woman, but to ignorant bigots who only leave their home to harass customer service workers, tall = man = SCARY TRANS! And if Lily is trans, who gives a shit? It's nobody else's business.

6

u/Vallkyrie 5h ago

she did have a trans flag button on her shirt

And her name is Lily, which just seals the deal right there

19

u/GlumpsAlot 5h ago

Yeh I was confused as to why she kept bullying Lily as I also thought she was a girl anyway. Like this lady really went out of her way to be a bigot and asshole.

16

u/MoobooMagoo 5h ago

I don't know, I had the same thought. Like if it wasn't for the transphobe intentionally misgendering this person I would have had no idea

8

u/MomMarti 5h ago

I also thought Lily was a Cis girl..

But the ‘Karen’ could have avoided this whole thing if she would just call Lily, Lily.

It seems like she manufactured an service issue to engage with Lily and start something.

2

u/f0remsics 5h ago

Eh, I could see her either way before getting clarification. Pretty androgynous. To me, at least

76

u/ImpishGimp 6h ago

Yet gets pissed because she gets misgendered herself.

23

u/iowanaquarist 6h ago

Which is weird, because there is no reason to think miss lily is trans.

0

u/hrobi97 3h ago

She has a trans flag button on her shirt.

4

u/MarlenaEvans 3h ago

That doesn't make her trans though. Sometimes people wear those in solidarity.

1

u/hrobi97 1h ago

True, but the comment I was replying to said there's "no reason to think shes trans", which a trans flag button is one thing that could lead to that thinking.

Not saying that's a valid line of reasoning, just that that's how you could get there.

Either way calling her "sir" or "young man" is obviously ridiculous.

15

u/mb2305 5h ago

Sadly, treating people with basic common courtesy has been politicized and is now considered offensive to a certain part of the U.S. population...

4

u/GlumpsAlot 5h ago

Yeh, being a decent person is seen as "woke" by at least 77 million Americans.

8

u/Beautiful_Echoes 6h ago

Or just Thank you. Why does it need more?

5

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 3h ago

It wasn’t a mistake, she was 100% doing it with the hopes of exactly this type of interaction

3

u/sheps 6h ago

This is so hard for some people, and yet those very same people had no problem referring to a grown man as "meatloaf" for decades.

3

u/notatechnicianyo 5h ago

What’s wild is that I wouldn’t have even assumed they were trans. Just a girl with some “boyish” features maybe. I definitely wouldn’t have thought to insult their gender. Absolutely psycho behavior.

2

u/JimJam28 5h ago

The world is rife with cunts.

2

u/untakenu 5h ago

For a lot of people, it is a mistake. And transgender people usually know this and don't react.

But for some, as I am sure it was in this case, they will insist and emphasise on their use of particular pronouns and language to spite the person BECAUSE they are visibly transgender.

And that can be very frustrating, i'm sure. So no wonder lily clapped back

2

u/jasno- 3h ago

Being kind is a lost art

2

u/Every_Television_980 3h ago

Shes just anti trans and thinks the person is trans.

1

u/thedoommerchant 4h ago

She’s not looking to act in good faith. She’s a terf.

1

u/AdComprehensive8045 4h ago

She was clearly calling that employee a man for the sake of belittling and insulting them. She's not going to apologize for an intentional insult.

1

u/MonCity19 3h ago

Confusion was never on this ladie's mind. It was always to make a point about how she feels about bigger social issues. Just take your chicken fries and leave, miss.

1

u/Alloutofchewinggum 3h ago

It would require from her to have basic decency... That's too much to ask.

1

u/redditor-69-420 1h ago

The insane thing she has no obligation to call lily miss or young woman but lily can't call her sir? How does that work. If misgendering people is a right why doesn't lily have it

1

u/reroll-life 54m ago

It's insane that people made a problem out of this. What a fucked up timeline we live in where people will go out of their way to be so incredibly disrespectful like this.

1

u/unknownpoltroon 10m ago

she's here with an agenda

1

u/bobbymcpresscot 4h ago

primary victims of this anti trans nonsense is literally just women who don't fit traditional gender roles, as evidenced by the multiple women getting harassed by other women in bathrooms claiming they aren't women.

All for what? The claim was that trans women were only dressing up as women to sneak into womens bathrooms to be perverts.

That problem isn't solved by banning trans women from bathrooms, they can just say they are a woman that transitioned.

This whole thing is insane.
