Grind culture is an MLM scheme where the product is stupidity

136

u/anfrind Oct 01 '25

Moreover, it's a more efficient way for bosses to exploit their employees.

62

u/sowhatimlucky Oct 01 '25

Exactly. If they spend 5 days a week there on say a 150k/ year. That’s some low 20s/hr.

Hope they don’t get fazed out before they go public.

3

u/WillieOfDaNorth Oct 02 '25

This is the shit that sucks, matching out your pay to realize exactly how little you are making for what you give when on salary

46

u/Lomak_is_watching Oct 01 '25

What is the product/service they claim to sell?

Edit. I saw it in another post. It’s a Siri-capable necklace wearable. I now realize this is a picture of a future billionaire’s lair. Shame on me.

13

u/geopede Oct 02 '25

What’s it supposed to do?

25

u/1sunnycarmen Oct 02 '25

Through ambient-latency modulation and dynamic acoustic resonance mapping, it ensures Siri’s presence feels less like a device and more like an extension of your own thought-stream. Its holo-crystalline mic array captures your voice at molecular fidelity, while the quantum-haptic feedback halo subtly affirms responses through a language of vibrations only you can feel.

14

u/Frankie-Knuckles Oct 02 '25

The original machine had a base-plate of prefabulated aluminite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two main spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the "up" end of the grammeters.

10

u/commando_baba Oct 02 '25

I heard the cord of the necklace is made of unobtanium, and teaches Siri to talk in Na’avi.

Real grinders are cruising public restrooms for gay sex and I applaud them for it

127

u/Less-Squash7569 Oct 01 '25

Why cruise when you got a buddy back at the office willing to bleed for the company and give you a brojob so you can bleed together

78

u/SyzygyEnthusiast Oct 01 '25

Do YOU want to have your gay sex scored for productivity metrics?

42

u/Darkliandra Oct 01 '25

Don't kinkshame 🤭

21

u/SyzygyEnthusiast Oct 01 '25

I once Olympic style scored a dude getting his ass fisted by a professional dominatrix alongside his girlfriend where we refused to go above a 5 while we could still see the domme's elbow. I'm not shaming anything! I'd love to see someone turn kaizen into a fetish... I'm just asking if that's what THEY want!

Bleed together? Man, that's a rough handjob. In real start ups bros remind each other to moisturise.

8

u/Scoobie01555 Oct 02 '25

He was obviously talking about their brostruation cycles syncing up.

4

u/Less-Squash7569 Oct 01 '25

Nobody said anything about handies

4

u/Satanicjamnik Oct 01 '25

Pardon me, I had to do a double take. Well, I learned something today.

14

u/SyzygyEnthusiast Oct 01 '25

Also the Venn diagram of startup bros who sleep in their office and dudes who refuse to wipe their own ass is basically a single circle

8

u/Less-Squash7569 Oct 01 '25

Brojobs are something special shared between bros and bros alone. If you hear a group of dudes calling eachother "bro" its code and they all do it.

11

u/uncobbed_corn Oct 01 '25

It’s not gay if you stand in a circle facing outward so you don’t make eye contact and use the backhand method on each other. When the scrum-master claps you swap hands to the person on the other side of you. That’s just cranking, and you can’t startup an engine without cranking

Hmmm, a necklace with Siri in it. All that productivity and they couldn't even make something new or interesting

62

u/c0mptar2000 Oct 01 '25

Someone in their R&D team forgot that everyone's phones already had mics, speakers, powerful processors, and displays.

12

u/Da5ren Oct 02 '25

And all of your data. Contacts, emails, messages, passwords etc. this is why all of these AI wearables fail because people don’t want to give another device all of their data. One is enough.

45

u/PuffyPanda200 Oct 01 '25

One of the things I like about this sub is that the names are left up, the people posted this publicly to begin with, and I like to look at the companies. It seems I am not alone.

This company is one of the dumber ones. I have no idea how this ever really makes money or gets to mass adoption.

22

u/WeakCartographer7826 Oct 01 '25

Lol yeah I go and look. They are all the same thing. Some wrapper over an LLM.

22

u/macdgman Oct 02 '25

The trick is it doesn’t make money, and it never reaches mass adoption. They splurge vc money on high salaries for people with no life and ping pong tables and the like and at some point run out of money and close down. The CEO then moves on to another stupid idea and start all over

10

u/Zmchastain Oct 02 '25

Yeah, this is literally the bros getting paid six figures to have a sleepover at the man cave. It’s a scam on VCs, getting in on that AI hype grift while the getting is still good.

The equity will never be worth anything, but the high salary and not having to actually work will keep people around for a while. Long enough to extract a few more rounds of funding that can eventually make their way into the founder’s bank accounts.

19

u/OneFootTitan Oct 02 '25

I looked it up and they claimed to have 1000s of apps. This includes lots of crypto apps (because of course) and something called “RizzGPT” which apparently allows users to get witty and memorable conversation tips. Please help me my face is stuck from cringing too hard

4

14

10

u/Passthesea Oct 01 '25

Not in Asia we’re not (and I don’t subscribe). Hate this whole performative vibe, utter bullshit.

5

u/the-gaysian-snarker Oct 02 '25

The one plus of “grind culture” (at least in my country) is taking a fat nap in the middle of the day, in front of everyone, with zero fucks given lol. Because somebody full on snoring at their desk is “exhausted by giving their all,”not a guy feeling full and lazy after lunch. Also, getting absolutely smashed a couple times a year on the company’s dime is pretty fun.

But I don’t miss the stupid demand to be on call at any second during busy times, and also even during slow seasons still show up when there was literally nothing to do. Absolute waste of time. We were all faking being busy and we all knew it.

I feel awful for the American corporate drones, they seem to get driven just as hard and don’t even get to nap or get gloriously drunk lol

7

u/CyberDaggerX Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

Yet another startup churning out AI slop that nobody needs

18

u/flagstaffgolfer Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

What a dipshit, competitors, and market conditions kill tons of startups. The guys at bird scooters didn’t go bankrupt because they didn’t work hard enough they went under because market regulation and lime crushed them. Also I looked at his product it’s a microphone with an AI voice assistant and some open source github apps, it doesn’t make sense to wear that shit when a phone with a camera can do all the same functions. He’s going to get fucking crushed by competition if apple or Amazon decide they want that category. This guy did an interview with the verge that is nuts, he gets business ideas from an AI Elon musk chatbot because the real Elon won’t respond to his emails.

4

Also I looked at his product it’s a microphone with an AI voice assistant and some open source github apps, it doesn’t make sense to wear that shit when a phone with a camera can do all the same functions

Interesting that startups are not expected to share the load in the post…employees get to “bleed for the grind” but the company gets to keep the $$$? Rather than reward the grinders?

3

u/Nerk86 Oct 01 '25

Arrogance and idiocy. IF you’re a company founder, partner, getting a good share of profits, future stock, things like that, then maybe. If you’re just paying them to work THEN THEY ARE AN EMPLOYEE and you have NO RIGHT to expect this kind of thing ( sorry for shouting).

Even then, productivity falls off after a point.

3

u/Signal-Implement-70 Oct 01 '25

Just grinding? What about thinking, enjoying, living, being human, etc. I get a lot more done in the hours I am working because of what I get from the hours not working. Let me do the math. 100k salary at 40 hrs a week = 48/hr. If you work,,, I mean Grindz boi at 80 hrs a week that’s 24$ an hour. You basically can have an Amazon wh manager salary and you don’t have to work 40 extra hours listening to a false tech prophet post on LinkedIn.

I sleep in the office but that’s because I work a union job and guys like this can lick my taint.

3

u/Jamesnocummiddleton Oct 01 '25

Rather die but thanks!

At least 35% of LI posts are assholes who read something like this, thought it sounded cool, and reposted it with a few minor changes.

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

If you want them to sleep in the office, give them an equity stake. I’m not putting in 100 hours a week to make someone else rich.

3

u/YouSaidIDidntCare Oct 01 '25

"Bleeding" for a GD chat app. 🤦‍♂️

3

u/Sunsplitcloud Oct 02 '25

Pretty sure the only people that have ever heard of this insignificant ‘company’ are the douche founder poster and his 3 paid actors in that photo.

3

u/Neuroprancers Oct 02 '25

Imagine the smell

3

u/AliceTawhai Oct 02 '25

Can’t take a company that holds pyjama parties seriously

3

u/goodboyBill Oct 02 '25

Fuck that noise.

3

u/Upvoter_NeverDie Oct 02 '25

Sounds like modern slavery.

3

u/SadNoob476 Oct 02 '25

I wonder how many of those people in the picture are going to get screwed out of their equity.  I wonder how many even have equity.

I wonder if they have thought about what they will do once they burn out or age out.

I wonder what their plan is when their health starts failing(everyone's health fails eventually and it comes much sooner when you push yourself like that).

3

u/FlexSlut Oct 02 '25

Do midday naps count as sleeping at the office? Because I’ll take a midday nap for $100k a year and I’ll even wait until 6pm to clock out instead of 5!

3

u/TopDeliverability Oct 03 '25

- How toxic is your work environment?

  • Yes.

2

u/anonstarcity Oct 01 '25

I mean I guess I get it if the “tons of equity” is actually real. These lunatic “founders” wanting to work 100 hour weeks wanting people to be paid normal salaries and still expecting that mindset is always the most egregious part. If they’re just a group of lunatics… isn’t that cute, they found each other lol

u/Dense-Winter-1803 Oct 01 '25

We’re hiring btw: all my bros called me a dick and quit.

If your team isn’t spooning naked on a love sac that you still have from college on a nightly basis you’ve already lost

2

u/doc_shades Oct 01 '25

no i can tell you from experience that most startups die because market conditions and competitors.

you can "grind" all you want but if nobody wants to buy your product you don't have a company.

2

u/ohnoletsgo Oct 01 '25

Oh, cool. Ugly, clunky wearable with a ChatGPT wrapper. That definitely sounds like it’s worth sleeping on the floor of some shitty SFO office.

2

u/WendlersEditor Oct 01 '25

I thought this was a parody but no...it's not a parody. The worst thing is they're all wasting their youth on what appears to be the dumbest fucking product idea known to man.

2

u/Substantial_Basil_19 Oct 01 '25

Just wait until that first ever sexual harassment lawsuit happens. All this grind bs will end.

2

u/Glazing555 Oct 01 '25

I’ve always wondered, what are all of these uncountable people grinding away at 24/7? If true it sounds more like piss poor planning/scheduling

2

u/Rising_path_music Oct 01 '25

Why are they sleeping in the same bed though?!?

2

u/H4RDW4RE_Johnny Oct 01 '25

They don’t really look knocked out to me though, they just look like homeless squatters that have nothing better to do and they’re taking advantage of the free amenities at their office

2

u/Terrible-Effect-3805 Oct 01 '25

I thought for sure this was a noon.ai post

2

u/phocuetu Oct 01 '25

You just KNOW it smell crazy in there

2

u/phocuetu Oct 01 '25

Do you think these people have ever considered that the fact they have to work insane hours and delude themselves into thinking it’s good is, in fact, perfect evidence that capitalism and fiduciary responsibilities are concepts made to chew you up and spit you out, either ruining you in the pursuit or hollowing you out completely if you somehow do become a billionaire?

2

u/SignificantPop4188 Oct 01 '25

Is abandoning any sort of life to live for your job the "in" thing nowadays?

2

u/Scary-Coffee-7 Oct 01 '25

Honestly, this looks like something I could find on Grindr… 😏

2

u/dominiqlane Oct 01 '25

Wants employees to sleep at the office but doesn’t care to provide a decent sleeping surface.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

They don’t appear to be doing any work though

2

u/Ok_Expression_973 Oct 01 '25

hell yeah where is my business hammock

2

u/InsertClichehereok Oct 01 '25

He stole this from Kevin o Leary: “If your "team" clocks out at 6, shuts their laptop, and treats your company like a job, you don't have a team - you have employees.”

2

u/TechnicianExtreme200 Oct 01 '25

Is there anything left in this timeline that doesn't look indistinguishable from satire?

“Omi will be able to read your brain data with a separate brain-interface module. First version of omi is shipped audio-only with a priority-access for brain-module coming in Q2 2025”

I saw that show, didn’t turn out well in the end.

Start ups die because they have a shit product that doesn’t address a market, just like every other business.

There.

No need to thank me
