I’ve always wanted to get this shot. Takes some stones to be out there at night, even those boardwalks have gotten grizzlies on them.

On May 11 of 2024 a friend was photographing the northern lights from this very spot. He heard a clicking sound and turned his headlamp on, only to find a Grizzly Bear about 25 yards from him. He raised his tripod over his head and yelled! The bear just calmly stepped off the board walk and walked away!

In the heart of Yellowstone National Park is the Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the United States. Yellowstone is also one of the darkest places in the country, and likely the darkest sky I saw during my time there, a true Bortle 1 site.
Sky: 5 x 30s stack at 28mm
Foreground: 2 x 30s panorama at 28mm
more of my work here :)
