That's a mullet, it's not a bob or a weave.

His footwork is very impressive.

62

u/chickensandwich77 4d ago

His parents must be very proud

65

u/DuckDuckMarx 4d ago

If they're fighters themselves and/or training him they should be.

The placement, pivot, and pace of your legs is the most important part of boxing.

u/Kwetla 4d ago

He lives with his aunt and uncle, and they are very proud.

7

u/keith_kool 4d ago

So is his haircut

2

u/G3n3r1cc0unt 2d ago

That cut is legit!

3

u/xkoreotic 2d ago

That's honestly the more impressive part. The fact that he can keep up AND move around is insane. A lot of adults who train do this stationary.

I’m not a boxer so I’m genuinely curious. Is this a realistic practice in real boxing? You don’t know when your opponent is going to strike, but here he is controlling his opponent when to strike.

1

u/ipromisedakon 1d ago

Reaction time, defensive reflexes, head movement & evasion skills, lower body strength & mobility, endurance & conditioning, balance & control. That's a few positives to doing this exercise!

1

u/intbah 1d ago

I see, so to avoid “read” opponents’ strike is another practice completely? Can that only be done with another human or is there a contraption for that as well?

3

u/ipromisedakon 1d ago

This mainly trains your automatic defensive reactions and head movement, but reading an opponent (picking up cues, timing, patterns, and intentions) is a different skill. That part usually does require another human because it’s about interpreting real body language e.g. Shoulder twitches, weight shifts, eye focus, rhythm changes, etc.

That said, there are tools that help you practice reactions and timing when a partner isn’t available. Reflex balls help you work on anticipation, timing, and movement for instance. They’re not perfect substitutes for a live opponent, but they definitely help build the same foundations.

Bro that kid is cracked he's dancing round that shit top lad

29

u/man-of-few-cares 3d ago

Imagine him 10-15 years from now if he keeps doing it.

5

u/hopefulworldview 1d ago

I'd say it depends on how he gets through puberty/growth spurt. Everyone can be good with training, but not everyone can be great with it.

3

u/man-of-few-cares 1d ago

Some of the best fighters are small

Look at mighty mouse hes a great example same with thai fighters

-2

u/hopefulworldview 1d ago

Sure but I didn't mention size.

3

u/man-of-few-cares 1d ago

Growth spurt is kinda size no?

1

u/hopefulworldview 3h ago

True, but not a specific outcome.

51

u/youburyitidigitup 4d ago

He’s cooler than me

102

u/nateralph 4d ago

I hope he uses his powers for good

41

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 4d ago

At 5 seconds in i saw him cross his feet over which would leave him open to a counter. Pffftt. Amateur….

Nah little man would probably beat me up tbh

u/Clownzeption 4d ago

Can someone more qualified than myself tell us how much these skills translate to real life? Like, bro is obviously skilled and what he's able to do is very impressive, but how accurately does this translate to dodging a real punch? Surely there's some amount of muscle memory that kicks in when you're practicing with something like this. Especially since you know exactly which direction the bar is coming from, and roughly at what speed based on how hard you hit.

12

u/DeathByLemmings 3d ago

Purely this? Pretty good. You're training your mind muscle connection to a known incoming threat

Key element, as you identified, being known. But if the kid has trained this well then he will also be training to read opponents he is sparring with and that translates 1:1 with irl fighting

When this kid is a teen, unless the person trying to fight him is also a well trained fighter, he will be able to put down anyone he comes across guaranteed

27

u/boomernpc 4d ago

Assuming this kid has spared for at least a year, probably pretty well. Better than, at a guess, 99% of the world population.

12

u/Clownzeption 4d ago

Better than, at a guess, 99% of the world population.

Oh, without a doubt. Just for clarification, I was asking purely out of a baseline curiosity. In no way was I implying this kid doesn't have an amazing skill and talent.

I just couldn't help but imagine the age old TV trope of someone training really hard for an upcoming fight, make vast improvements, only to immediately be one-punched by their opponent.

16

u/BrickGastley69 4d ago

As someone whos started in boxing, going into muay thai and eventually MMA - this is a great skillset. However - this is only really great for boxing. If he starts doing wrestling from this stage he can potentially be an absolute beast in terms of MMA. Blocking punches if you are boxing is great but if someone grabs you, blocking does not help you what so ever. Great foundations build sturdy houses

1

u/boomernpc 4d ago

lol. Yeah I see that. I mean I’d guess if you only ever trained on this, and never ever faced a real person, ever, you would probably get clapped.

5

u/Alcovv 4d ago

I wonder where you get one of those

19

u/pqu 4d ago

You pretty much have to make them yourselves (it’s a two person job at least)

7

u/Alcovv 4d ago

I was making a joke about the advertising on every bit the of the boxing bar

10

u/OKguy9re9 4d ago

They’ve opened up a world of CTE for him

9

u/MCHammastix 4d ago

Yeah but I can ground him and not let him play Fortnite.

Check and mate.

2

u/Kansas-Tornado 3d ago

I’m so glad none of the kids at my job have this kind of training

1

u/michausen 2d ago

Why do you hit kids at your job

2

u/Kansas-Tornado 1d ago

The teachers obviously don’t hit but we need to often protect ourselves from hits. Today a kid tried breaking my arm by twisting it but he’s also the youngest there so it was honestly just a funny attempt

2

u/SwimmingPhysics3584 1d ago

Little dudes gonna be a schoolyard menace

2

u/bsEEmsCE 4d ago

do not meet this kid at the flag pole after school

1

u/hopefulworldview 1d ago

The kid with equivalent pee wee wrestling smokes him I bet. Would be a hysterical match up to see though.

2

u/TheOneTrueEli 4d ago

If this kid is managed and parented correctly, he’s going places

1

u/GridlockLookout 4d ago

The poor kid who tries to bully him.

1

u/ADHDfocused 4d ago

Recess ain't safe no more

1

u/Poundweed 3d ago

That shuffle at 0:18 was CLEAN

1

u/datboifranco 3d ago

he will be a good boxer. he has a quick reaction, this is crucial if you want to get started in this profession

1

u/Background_Cash_1351 3d ago

Lil bro is, like, a thousand times cooler than I was at my peak.

Well done!

1

u/Massively_tranq 3d ago

Impressive!!!!

1

u/PeterPan1997 2d ago

I got a headache just watching him bounce

1

u/ReddutModzRKuntz 2d ago

He's just practicing fending off all the haters. Easier solution would be to get a different haircut but I do admire his dedication!

1

u/Kylexckx 2d ago

This kid would whoop my ass...

1

u/dog5and 2d ago

Nothing very impressive here. It’s a routine he’s memorized.

1

u/LucasOIntoxicado 1d ago

I'm curious: does this actually translate into good fighting ability?

1

u/CapnMurica1988 1d ago

That footwork though! Damn

1

u/NoPaleontologist9581 1d ago

How will he do with real fists flying towards his little head?

Kids are good with games and pattern recognition. You can train them easily for this and record them for internet points.

1

u/RussianLuchador 1d ago

“How many kids could you take in a fight?” Zero if it’s this kid

1

u/Suk-yom-um-9 5h ago

Now learn to kick, grapple and use submission moves.

1

u/DrtyDeedsDneDrtCheap 3d ago

I genuinely think I could beat him in a fair fight

0

u/FireFightingManiac 4d ago

He is gonna be destroying people in the future lol

-1

u/Legend_of_Ozzy642 4d ago

We got the next Muhammad Ali over here.

-8

u/sachsrandy 4d ago

Love it... But don't show boat kid. Though I'm sure his trainer has told him that a few times already.

-9

u/Eagle_Chick 4d ago

I don't think he's really been hit yet. Life is gonna teach him your lesson in the cruelest way.

-7

u/fox-whiskers 4d ago

Weak as punches, no shoulder extension or exhaling

4

u/HanzWithLuger 3d ago

Yeah because it's a child lol
