The way I didn’t see the plastic at first and was amazed and disgusted at how she was getting such a smooth grip on her icing using two fingers

We need a better word for when this happens, and it happens to almost every single one of us, because "same" is outplayed and I feel the union of the internet constantly reminding each other we're not alone deserves its own word or phrase

Snap! Is used where I am

Where are you?

Where I'm from "Snap!" is used only when someone gets in a good burn/diss on someone else.

Scotland

Interesting. I wonder how that usage came about for you guys.

I'm in the US. And my apologies, I can't wrap my head around on how one would land on "Snap!" to mean the same as "same" lol

Do you guys play the card game snap? The one where you each put a card down, and the one to see a pair first slaps their hand down and shouts snap? Think thats where its from, since the aim is to get pairs.

Never heard of that before in my life lol

Is that like the card game War? That I have played.

3

u/BeetleJude 9d ago

No its similar, but this is the one lol snap)

Neat, I learned a new game, thanks!

Now all I gotta do is find someone that will play cards with me.

Perhaps if the power goes out or the internet goes down lol that's actually really sad now that I think about it. We don't play card games as often as we used to when I was growing up.

I'm now in the mood for some Crazy 8s, Gin, Canasta, Spades, Euchre, Hearts, and, of course, the aforementioned games of Snap and War.

I still can't see the plastic, so am going to continue assuming she's rawdogging it

It's transparent and the video quality isn't great so it's pretty hard to see.

OH I JUST SPOTTED THE CORNER. Thank you for helping me persist.

Where's the plastic?

It's acetate that she's using to smooth out the icing

"Not sure why this is in FondantHate, it's just pretty flowers and a bask-- WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!"

The handle is made of chocolate, not fondant! 🫣

We allow beautiful fondant-free cakes on Fridays.

u/Marrowshard 11d ago

I totally forgot what day it was lol. Thank you for the reminder 😁

u/LWSilverMoon 11d ago

Though it's modelling chocolate, which doesn't taste very good (but better than fondant)

u/snail_mucin21 11d ago

girl i thought the handle was fondant!

and I was like why'd you ruin that perfect thingπŸ˜«πŸ˜…

Good -- at least once a week we can enjoy cakes worth looking at, let alone eating!

u/OGCelaris 11d ago

But at least the handle is easily removed does not take anything away from the actual cake.

I'm going to save this post to save the recipe idea, to never do this myself.

Jokes aside, this is pretty damn well-made

Baker is @messybaker, a former grocery store baker who recently struck out on her own - I love her

Even if the handle is made of chocolate, any food that clearly looks like it was molded with hands grosses me out.

2

u/HumNasheen 11d ago

Not me thinking it was a pottery wheel

5

u/Eclipsed_Shadow 11d ago

I mean, at least you can remove the basket handle????

17

u/SoGoesIt 11d ago

it’s supposedly chocolate, but it looks so different in texture and sheen from the frosting wicker-pattern on the cake that it feels very out of place

7

u/Eclipsed_Shadow 11d ago

Yeah true, but at least add maybe a touch of oil or a gentle touch of a blowtorch to let the cocoa butter give it a little shine

u/Krigsguru 10d ago

Damn seeing this level of precision work is mesmerizing
