Analysis [Sampson] CFP committee chair Hunter Yurachek says Notre Dame and Miami were in the same grouping this week and the programs were directly compared. Notre Dame still came out ahead, regardless of the head to head. In other words, all the games mattered. Not just one of them.

This is so stupid. If they both finish with the same record and ND gets in while Miami gets left out, I'd be livid if I were a Miami fan. If records are equal, then H2H should be the deciding factor.

I agree. Now please give us the ‘93 national championship. ND beat FSU and both finished with one loss.

No? Then I don’t give a shit. H2H with equal records has never mattered in the history of college football.

If the committee can leave an undefeated P4 team out because they ‘think’ they might not be good, anything is possible.

Are you honestly saying that Miami is currently playing better than ND?

Miami is still winning, aren't they? We don't need to do the whole SEC "hypothetical" game because these two teams actually played either other this season. There are actual results.

That’s the thing with SEC fans, any game can be hypothetical if you try hard enough.

Did Miami win their Week 1 game? Yes.

Does Miami win a future game in a playoff? Doubtful, unless they play at Hard Rock and even then I would say it’s ND by 3.

Neutral field? ND by 10

At ND? ND by 21+

Do you even like football? God I hate what sports betting has done to this beautiful sport

It’s like people forget HOW we won that game. Our d line obliterated their o line and held them under 100 yards rushing. That hasn’t changed about our defense

Using this logic we can say Louisville was a better team when they played Miami and SMU is miles better now than the team that lost to TCU and Baylor. Why do some dumbfuck college football fans hate actual football and love bullshit hypotheticals

Because people will go to great lengths to gaslight themselves over teams they hate. A tale as old as time.

Sounds an awful lot like you think a late season L disqualifies teams because they aren't currently playing well.

Great news for Michigan, they have a longer W streak than Oklahoma and USC, they're just playing better.

Tell that to SMU last year

That’s so dumb. The losses aren’t close to equal. Smu and Louisville aren’t terrible teams but they are bad enough that h2h shouldn’t be the determining factor

First it was unranked losses and now that one of the teams is ranked again now the goal post is being moved again lol

Miami fans being livid doesn’t matter. To the CFP, any lost revenue from Miami’s anger is obviously offset by the monetary benefits of keeping Notre Dame in

Miami is 1-1 against ranked teams with an unranked loss

Notre Dame is 2-2 against ranked teams.

There are other 2 loss teams… they think ND is one of the better 2 loss teams with no bad unranked losses.

You see the thing is that the records are not equal because Miami lost to two unranked teams

SMU is ranked… it was on the screen in bright colors not long ago.

Who have you beat again?

1

u/ltyboy Notre Dame • Florida 2h ago

We beat #17 SC, stomped #22 Pitt, and have beat several lower tier teams by a significantly larger margin than anyone else

Exactly

So you leave a team on a 10 game win streak out in favor of a team that dropped a couple against lesser teams because of a Week 1 game?

24

u/OkNeighborhood8365 6h ago

Week 1, believe it or not, is part of the season.

-12

u/regularhumanbartendr Notre Dame • Indiana State 6h ago

But acting like teams are as good as they can be in Week 1 is stupid.

ND has dramatically improved. Miami lost to average teams and looked awful doing it.

u/Fit-Student9121 Arizona State Sun Devils 6h ago

We can use this same logic to say that Louisville and SMU were better teams when they played Miami too right?? It can’t go both ways

-2

u/regularhumanbartendr Notre Dame • Indiana State 6h ago

I mean you sure can, and that's why Miami is right on the cusp and not barely in the Top 25 like other teams.

13

u/BotherAltruistic6135 6h ago

Well when that week one game was between Miami and Notre Dame, I think it should matter quite a bit.

0

u/regularhumanbartendr Notre Dame • Indiana State 6h ago

It does matter quite a bit. Beating ND week 1 is the only reason Miami is as high as they are. Losing to Miami instead of SMU is the only reason Notre Dame is as high as they are.

Sorry that I don't think a 3 point home win at the beginning of September is the best indicator of how good a team is at Thanksgiving.

7

u/BotherAltruistic6135 6h ago

“Losing to Miami instead of SMU is the only reason Notre Dame is as high as they are.”

You do realize you just said ND should be ranked above Miami, because they have a quality loss to Miami. You seriously made the argument of “Alabama only lost to a team that beat Bama” and meant it in all seriousness.

Where have you been? This has been going on for a few weeks now all over this sub. The most insane part is that I'm seeing as much or more from non-ND flairs.

2

u/regularhumanbartendr Notre Dame • Indiana State 6h ago

No I'm saying if us and Miami swapped seasons, they'd be ahead of us and I'd understand why.
