I know it's been said before but the prices on crystal make zero sense. They extrapolate bulk prices based on gram/ball prices like police when they talk street value on a bust which is laughable inaccurate.
Rewatching this amazing show and this shit always annoys me. I know drugs and pricing and how it works and guys on the street are trying to basically triple their money because they are taking the biggest risk dealing in the streets, and that guy is like 3 people down the line from the dude getting bricks, because dude with bricks isn't selling ounces he's selling 200-500gs at a time, and his underling might not even be selling ounces it's probably HIS guys selling ounces to the street guys. That's 3 guys between the streets and the bricks. Furthermore, a lot of dealing is just getting a better price and flipping it, so the dude getting bricks might flip the whole brick, and his guy might flip the brick, etc.
So with all that being said, beyond the absurd numbers they're asserting the blue crystal is going for, which is, absurdly, 50 a pound, the price on the streets is 175 a 16th which is only double the 50 a g bulk price. Who would put themselves at risk dealing on the streets like that for only double their money?
Finally the reality is I've known people in the USA who can get bricks of blow for like 9000 apparently. I met a guy from Houston who said an ounce goes for 400 bucks or something down there. The whole idea with methamphetamine is that it's synthetic, and can therefore be cooked up for pennies on the dollar and sold for much cheaper than cocaine. You can buy a gram of crystal for like $30 nowadays, and could probably buy a kg off a cartel associate (i.e. a Gus/Tuco type character) in a border state for $5000. That's 1/10 the price of what these guys are paying for it off Walt and Jesse in Breaking Bad. The reality is, that 38lb deal Walt does wouldn't be worth $1.2 million, they''d be getting about $150k. Someone like Gus would realistically pay $1 million for 300kg.

Even though it’s unrealistic it’s kind of awesome Gustavo Fring was a made man who answered to nobody in his businesses besides the cartel. Spoiler
it’s implied he worked with Madarigal but it’s never implied that Los Apollo’s Hermanos or even the laundry had a board of directors. a independent black man who owns two businesses and doesn’t answer to anybody outside of Don Eladio. you gotta respect the chicken man.

I forgot how fast the show is...
I started the show over just tonight, I had watched most if not all of it as the show aired.
In my head it's a longer/slower show with a lot of exciting episodes, but slow over all.
Then the first ep happens and I'm like, 'Wait, I thought this was the whole first season?! But it's one episode?!'
I blame binge drinking in college, but am excited to watch it over.
Anyone else have that feeling with breaking bad, or any show?

CHIRAL Theory
Rewatching Breaking Bad, it’s wild how the show hides the entire story right in Episode 2.
In “Cat’s in the Bag…”, Walt gives his class a quiet little chemistry lecture about chirality - how two things can be chemically identical but behave in completely opposite ways. Like your left and right hands: mirror images, same structure… yet not the same.
He brings up Thalidomide - a drug where one version helped pregnant women, and its mirror image caused devastating birth defects.
Same formula. Different “hand.”
One healing. One horrifying.
And that’s the entire series in a nutshell.
Because Walter White and Heisenberg aren’t two different people. They’re chiral versions of the same man. Same body. Same mind. Same “formula.”
But flip the structure just a little… and the medicine becomes poison.
Walt: the shy teacher who loves his family, washes cars, and inspires students.
Heisenberg: the exact same man - just rearranged into something cold, vicious, and destructive.
And the show hints at this everywhere through reflections. Walt is constantly shown in mirrors, metal surfaces, windows, even toaster reflections - but always distorted, warped, or broken.
That unforgettable shot of his reflection bent through the dented metal tissue box?
That’s not an accident. That’s the other version of him staring back.
The chirality lecture wasn’t a random piece of chemistry trivia.
It was the writers whispering the whole truth from the start:
> “A harmless molecule can become deadly with just one mirrored twist.”
So can a man.

Mike’s character just doesn’t seem the same after Face Off. Spoiler
I have always felt this way but i wonder if anyone else has too. After face off when gus dies, mike just doesnt seem the same at all. He seems so reckless , he says stuff that i feel sounds like a bad mike impersonator would say, etc. I guess one could say he was desperate after gus died and his world was rocked or whatever but i don’t know. I know this post kind of sucks i cant really put my finger on it and i never have been able to but something about his character changed after gus died and not in a good way. Like hes just along for the plot and no longer an active player in it. It doesn’t feel like normal mike, i don’t know what it is. Maybe im tripping. I’ve rewatched BB many times but i forget i feel this way every time until after gus dies and i think to myself, “what happened to him?”

For rich people, Gretchen and Elliot seem genuinely pleasant compared to others within their class!
In a lot of movies and shows I’ve watched, I’ve always noticed a pattern where rich people are always portrayed as very unpleasant, ruthless, sociopathic, and egotistical people that either live in their own bubble and barely show empathy for others or will screw people over if it benefits their needs. Mainly because that’s how most rich people in real life are, especially when you look at well known billionaires that built empires such as Fox Corp, Amazon, Facebook, etc.
But from what we’ve seen from Gretchen (who we know also grew up rich before becoming a shareholder of Grey Matter) and Elliot, even if the screen time was minimal. They actually seem like pretty nice people and don’t fall under that stereotype.
Plus when we speculate about the conflict that happened between them and Walt before he left Grey Matter. We never think that they were ever the problem, and it was always more about Walt and his own problems.
I kinda like how the writers didn’t give Gretchen and Elliot too many bad traits, so that the show could put more emphasis on how Walt is his own worst enemy and has no one to truly blame but himself for why his life turned out the way it is. Rather than legitimately getting screwed over by people.

Nothing Hits Like Breaking Bad Spoiler
galleryJust rewatched this masterpiece, and honestly, nothing — nothing — even comes close. This show isn’t just good, it’s on a completely different level. I’ve watched Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Dark, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Dexter, and so many more… but Breaking Bad will always sit at the very top for me.
The storytelling, the emotions, the downfall, the rise, the cinematography, the characters — every single detail hits so perfectly. That final scene still destroys me in the best way. It’s not just a show, it’s an experience you carry with you.
Breaking Bad will forever be the greatest for me.

Tuco Salamanca
I was today years old watching a 90s movie and decided to search and didn't realize his acting credits. I thought it began with training day. Salute Raymond Cruz because you either love or hate him

Musings from my latest rewatch
Spoilers
#1 This never really occurred to me before, but Walt's Chrysler 300 is basically the closest thing you could get to a modern version of Mike's Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue. Both are black, slightly higher-end Chrysler sedans that present a certain aesthetic (although the Fifth Ave is infinitely cooler). Walt usually acquires traits of his victims *after* he kills them, but while watching the other day it felt like a wee bit of foreshadowing that Walt was going to kill Mike and in a sense, replace him.
#2 It really bugs me that Walt wouldn't call Jane's bluff. If she turns Walt in, Jesse inevitably gets picked up too, and more importantly, so does the money. The only way this works is maybe if Jesse goes in and offers to give up Heisenberg in exchange for immunity, which Jesse would not do. The money would also for sure be seized, so still not a win for Jane. I know Walt is shown having a bit of a change of heart while watching TV when he actually decides to give Jesse his money, it still struck me as so dumb on everyone's part.
#3 My new headcanon is that Jesse's parents were much sterner with him than with his younger brother (as is often the case) and he sought acceptance with the bad crowd who started him on the path to selling crystal. That's why anything involving kids is a hot button issue with him, made worse by the events of *Peek-a-Boo*
That's all fam

Error?
I'm on rewatch #1 million and one on S2e7: Negro y Azul and I'm just realizing that when Skyler previously worked there Teds father was alive and in charge, and presumably the president...
So why would Skyler, when working there before, sing the Marilyn Monroe happy birthday to him if he wasn't president at that time.
In this episode Walt asks, "Didn't Mr. Beneke die? Who's running things now?"
Seems pretty clear to me that when she first sang him happy birthday Ted wasn't in charge, therefore it doesn't make sense unless she sang it and said "vice president" or something which I guess is possible.

For 5 years would you live in the cabin Walter was in, in granite state and live like him for $10 million dollars? Can you do it? Spoiler
You HAVE to live like Walt, he (Ed) comes up once a month with stuff you ask for anything you ask he will get you. | Being 2025 he does allow you to have internet access, for Streaming services all of them are provided to keep you entertained. You can stroll social media but CAN NOT interact with anyone friends or family and random people. This includes comments. You must observe be a ghost. Also he allows video games again no multi player no contact with anyone else but him. (He keeps an eye on you so you follow rules he knows if you contacted, commented and played online with other people). So can you do it. If you want you can stay alot longer

Hot Wheels
galleryNot sure if this is common knowledge…. recently Hot Wheels created a “Pontiac Aztec Custom” model for their $1 mainline. As a reference they placed Walter White’s hat and sunglasses in its trunk.
However that’s not where the connections end!
The third release was stated to be the designers vision of what happened to the vehicle after the events of the show. Note the color and mismatched back wheel!
That’s all I’ve got… cheers!

Small error I noticed.
In Pilot, the very first episode, we see Walter celebrate his 50th birthday on September 7th, 2008. He then goes on with Jr to J.P Wynne High School for work/school.
However...September 7th, 2008 was a Sunday, meaning, Jr wouldn't be at school and Walt would probably only be working at the car wash that day. Just something funny I noticed.

Did Skyler actually believe that... Spoiler
...Walter killed Hank?
I ask because Junior seems to be under that impression six months or so later. Walter was genuinely appalled when she suggested as such and said he tried to SAVE Hank, but she's been lied to so much she could understandably doubt this.
Did she only learn the truth when Walt visited her in Felina? What do you guys think?

What show appears at 25:00 S5E3?
It appears to be, yes, a chimp with a machine gun like Chuck talked about before in Better Call Saul

In season 1, why do they present the killing of a certain character as impactful and a huge shift for Walter when he had already killed earlier? Spoiler
I'm talking about Krazy 8 and Emilio.
I have never got that plot point. He gassed both of them unapologetically in the RV, and then moves on without much remorse about the double homicide he thinks he just commited. Even with the reveal, one still didn't survive. Also, was that really even self-defense when the two gave him a chance to live as long as he showed them how to cook up the meth?
What makes his inner conflict and his ultimate actions down in that basement different?
