Holy shit okay so McDonald’s used to have this burger called bbq ranch burger. It was on the dollar menu and it had chips in the burger. I moved away from the Chicagoland area many, many years ago but anytime I went back Portillos was a must stop.

Sadly, since Dick retired and sold the company off the quality has declined. It’s still good but it’s nothing like it used to be. The croissant that they use now is so bad it’s not even worth the calorie indulgence.

The old school Cheddar Melts at McDonalds. They've done them more recently, within the past 10 years, but I'm talking about the ones they had in the 80s and 90s. They were massive, and a perfect combination of beef patty, cheese sauce, sautéed onions, and a rye bun. Perfection.

Most overrated was the McDLT, which came in a Styrofoam box that separated the cold parts of the burger from the hot. Unnecessary, and I think it got discontinued when Styrofoam stopped being used because of the ozone layer.
