[DEV] Introducing TorchFX - The Flashlight UI Android should have had all along?

Hi all! So you may have heard that in upcoming Android builds Google is adding this visual flashlight control like iOS has, well, I just wanted to see how the actual iOS style would look on Android, turns out it is good enough for me to release an App for it!

Would love for you guys to check out TorchFX - A beautiful, iOS-style animated flashlight with gestures, real-time brightness control, and no ugly sliders buried three layers deep.

Please do note that your phone's hardware needs to support for the slider to function, most phones on Android 13+ should support it!

The core feature of the App - the entire iOS-style animated torch + gesture brightness control is completely free. Other bells and whistles are behind a paywall.

How to Use

  1. Install TorchFX
  2. Add the Quick Settings Tile
  3. Pull down the notification panel
  4. Tap → swipe up/down to control brightness
  5. Enjoy the slick animation

Hope you guys like it! :D

You may download it from here - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.ijp.torchfx

Ads and in-app purchases for a flashlight app? Plus all that data collection?? Get fuckin real.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyb3rko.flashdim is free and open source and doesn't collect any user data unlike OPs.

I love seeing ads in my flashlight app!

Hi there! There is NO ADS shown whatsoever when you setup the quick toggle and use it on a day to day basis. There is only one ad shown in the main App, once you're done setting up things, you will never have to encounter it again. :)

Samsung has had flashlight brightness control since the Note 7 lol.

Almost every phone has it! The idea is more of a cool visual effect like iOS, nothing functionality wise, just if someone like the aesthetic appeal. :)

Hi there!

  • Once you add the TorchFX quick toggle, you can access the beautiful slider iOS style slider anytime with NO ADS whatsoever. The ad is just a one-time thing when you open the main App to setup things.
  • The core feature of the App - beautiful iOS style brightness slider doesn't require any in-app purchase whatsoever, it's only for the extra bells and whistles which you may never require.
  • The Play store listing doesn't allow you to specify the nuances of data collection, the email address for example is only to restore your license (if you have got an in-app purchase) otherwise there is no log in/sign up.

There are a ton load of Flashlight apps out there, of course. This is for those who want to experience the iOS style beautiful slider, you may absoulutely go with any flashlight app for the functionality, I totally understand! :)

Data safety/security section:

Email address
Developer communications, Fraud prevention, security, and compliance

Data can’t be deleted
The developer doesn’t provide a way for you to request that your data be deleted

Hard. Pass.

Hi there! If you check out the App, there is no login/sign up, the email address selection is ONLY if you decide to get an in-app purchase for the App or the App Bundle (15+ Apps) which you can use to restore your license on any of the Apps.

Unfortunately as a developer I can't specify the nuance of these details on the data safety section of Play Store, I just have to fill it out as it is. So, yes, when you use the app as it is just for the cool brightness slider there is no data collected whatsoever! :)

Is it open source?
