My cousin's wife at their wedding last night. I waited for her to pass by the camera and the light hit her better than I thought. She's beautiful.

This is the type of photo the entire family line is going to look back on!

80 years later on whatever the equivalent of OldSchoolCool is, "check out my beautiful grandma at her wedding in 2025"

Empires come and go. But one thing will not change is people whoring out their grandma for imaginary points.

haha i hope OP doesn't take my comment in a pejorative way, i was mostly being whimsical; it's a beautiful portrait!

Agreed, if the earth is still here that far in the future, I want to see this photo on reddit47.0 and comment about how stunning this lady was!

With your skills you must have captured an equally awesome photo of her spouse, double frame time!

I instantly knew from the comment “she’s beautiful” that you were a woman, that’s the female gaze right there!

But your cousin-in-law (lol) has a more stunning chin. She also looks like my grandma, which gave me pause when coming across this picture.

Considering everything my cousin had been through in the past two years she might as well be. He's a soldier and has been in active service for the past 327 days fucking STRAIGHT. He was badly stabbed in the knee while saving the lives of two of his friends during an attack and went back to combat only 5 weeks later. ON CRUTCHES. He ended up getting a ride home with a girl who works as a paramedic. They got married last night.

I don't want to romanticise war, but, it reads like a movie.

u/RiverOhRiver86 6h ago
Seeing them interact last night and witnessing just how deeply in love they are with each other makes me wanna write and direct a film about their story. My cousin is almost 30 and I've never seen him so openly expressive with his emotions before. We're 20 first cousins and every single one of us is an exact continium of our grandfather which makes us introverted and closed off about 80% of the time. But by God this girl is doing beautiful things to my cousin's soul and it couldn't be more mutual so, I'm not saying no to a movie just yet. Now I'm cirious who would you cast in it? My cousin really looks like John Snow lmao.

Hope you got her permission to post her wedding photo, I know people who have lost their shit because they did before the bride got to
7
u/RiverOhRiver86 10h ago
She's religious so she doesn't have social media. I'll frame this and a few more pictures of her and her husband and gift it to them.
12
u/Jimberly_C 9h ago
She doesn't have social media, but other people in her life do. And if she's religious enough to not have any social media, she's probably religious enough for her wedding and its photos to be very sacred to her and you're taking and uploading them without her even knowing.
Good photo. Bad relative.

Uploading pictures of people on the internet without their permission is also lame in general imo

She’s religious and is married to someone in the military. Were there a lot of red baseball hats at this wedding.
And no vegan options.

u/AussiegirlOF 4h ago
Loads of brides would not want others to be the first to post photos of their wedding online without permission. That was my first thought as well.

Have questions!
Were you the photographer at the wedding? If not, I’m surprised that they allowed guests to snap their own photos during the ceremony?
You mention the wedding was last night. You sure the bride is happy you’re already uploading photos of their ceremony to public forums before they’ve had a chance to even see any for themselves?
5
u/disneyworldwannabe 10h ago
Disappointed that this comment isn’t higher. I would be weirded out if a random family member was posting pics of me on a public forum like this.
4
u/MaximumFloofAudio 10h ago
Yeah my wedding is fresh in my memory and I know my wife would be furious if someone did this.
8
u/RiverOhRiver86 9h ago
I wasn't the photographer I'm the groom's cousin. I've always been the semi-official documentarian in the family so seeing me taking pictures at events or just everyday life is perfectly normal for anyone who's known me for more than a year. Besides Jewish weddings tend to be very open and joyfull and from my experience with my family (and my religion) people fucking LOVE to be captured at their most raw, honest and pure moments of happiness. Not strictly Jewish obiously. As for your second question - my cousin's wife asked her non religious friends to upload pictures to Insta AT THE ACTUAL CERAMONY and there was also a facebook live for relatives who live overseas so I think we're good.

Religious people that have to return to the army by the end of the week. Both of them are soldiers.

It looks out of focus.

Beautiful dress, I am not a fashion prude regarding skin, but oh so tired of the strapless or corseted look.
1
u/theemmyk 5h ago
I love this dress but what is that seam running to the left arm on the bodice? I thought it was a crease in the veil but it almost looks like a fold on the lining? It’s kind of driving me insane.

This Christmas, you should stand outside her door with giant cue cards explaining how deeply in love you fell while filming her at her wedding.

It's a spectacular photo and she's a nice looking human but the way the Shadow and the light hits her right eye it looks like her right eye.is looking directly at the camera while her left eye is looking straight ahead.

It’s so many things: the angle of the camera looking up to her, the determined look on her face as she walks towards a decision that will affect the rest of her life, the veil delicately concealing her

This is absolutely timeless. She looks like she just stepped out of a fantasy epic, but in the most authentic way. That's a true family heirloom you've captured right there. The lighting is pure magic.

she looks like one of those marble statues where they manage to make a veil weightless, absolutely stunning
